This was the worst service experience I've ever had. - deschutescore
This was the worst service experience I've ever had. I initially brought my vehicle in for a front-end failure and a seized front wheel. I was quoted $1,500 to make it pass inspection, and stored the vehicle to save for repairs. I dropped it off to begin repairs on 10/24/24, expecting work to start on 11/1.
When I checked on 11/8, I was told they’d just diagnosed it and were putting together a new quote. They claimed the original quote no longer applied because they thought I'd been driving the vehicle, even though I’d informed them it had been garaged since. Frustrated, I told them to go ahead with repairs, authorized up to $2,000 if additional issues arose, and requested an inspection and oil change.
On 11/12, I was informed the vehicle was nearly ready but needed yet another part replaced. It’s baffling how a damper on the front end was missed after two visits over a month. I declined the extra repair, and they assured me it would be ready by the end of the day.
I arrived at 3 PM and had to wait 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged me, as the only rep at the counter was slowly booking an appointment over the phone. A manager finally noticed and handed me my key, charging me the full amount. He assured me the vehicle "drives beautifully"—which was completely false.
Just as I was leaving, I was informed they didn’t complete the inspection due to a check engine light. I wasn’t told this until after I’d paid, adding insult to injury.
In the end, my Jeep was not repaired. The front wheel is still seized, and now it won't go in reverse. I also now have brake warnings and a check engine light that weren’t there before. The inspection wasn’t completed, despite my request and payment.
The attitude of the service staff was equally frustrating. Two out of three reps were dismissive and unprofessional. One rep seemed to be building up courage to be rude, while the manager was condescending, implying I should be grateful they’d "worked hard to fit repairs into my budget."
They misdiagnosed the car, didn’t fix the problem, and failed to provide the services I requested and paid for. This feels like outright fraud. I now need to have the car towed to another repair shop to undo the damage they caused.
For $2,300, Newport Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram left me with:
The inability to reverse
Damaged rim
A broken wheel speed sensor
Expired inspection
Check engine light
ABS warning light
Traction control light
Some new suspension parts that resolved only half of my original issue
