Sales manager tried to bully me into buyng - Jerry
I live in AZ and in early 2018 I found a new 2017 model Thor Outlaw motor home at RV General in OK for a pretty good price after looking for some time. In talking to the salesperson I asked what changes had been made to the 2018 and his response was "I'm not aware of the changes for the 2018 model". He informed me there was a RV show coming up that weekend and if I wanted to hold the 2017 model I would need to put a large "down payment" on the 2017 ($5000) via the web site on my credit card. So I did. There was no policy for non-refund of money through this process and the sales person had my sign and fax back a "Sales Quote" sheet for the RV which had a notice that OK does not have a cooling off period for vehicle sales purchase contracts, meaning once you sign the sales purchase contract and take the vehicle there is no change of mind and refund. Fine, we hadn't got to that point yet. I booked a flight to pick up the RV a couple of weeks away and in the mean time I researched the differences in the 2017 and 2018 models which was hard to find as it turns out. The differences (new features added) turned out to be pretty significant and items that I'd want (which is most likely why the sales person played dumb and wouldn't look into it for me) so I called the RV General to talk to my sales person about getting a 2018 instead and he was away, so I talked to 2 other people and one guy said they didn't have any 2018 models in that floor plan and that he would look into ordering a 2018 from the factory for me (never heard from him again). I followed up with an email to my sales person the next day (Sunday) and the following Monday I got a call from his sales manager. As it turns out the Thor factory apparently isn't going to make the "H" floor plan any more (the one I wanted) and was only making another newer floor plan. The sales manager got very crappy with me when I said I had found a 2018 H model close to me and if his dealer couldn't get one then I wanted a refund and to buy the local one (for more money, but it had more new features). He said I had signed an agreement saying if I changed my mind I couldn't get my money back and you really don't want to do that do you, loose $5000???
I was very upset at his attitude and tone with me and told him I would take care of it from my end. A quick call the next day to an attorney and then to Chase Bank for a dispute to the charge was all I needed to confirm that this was a total xxxxxxx move on the part of RV General store's sales manager. I lost the cost of my plane ticket but I finally got the RV I wanted and didn't have to do business with that place, thank goodness.
