My husband and I had the pleasure working with Mitchell, Jason, and Tim today. We were helping a friend find and purchase a car since it was time to get a newer one. I reached out to a good friend Nick Vreeman who also works there and he had his crew helping us out. We tried test driving many good vehicles and narrowed our choices down to the Silver Eco Sport 2020. The staff were friendly, kind, helpful and patient. They worked with us to get the very best car and deal we could get for the budget we had. They went out of their way to make our friend Melissa very satisfied with her final purchase. I normally I’m not a person who will complain or call out a business on social media, being a business owner myself I know that sometimes things happen and nobody’s perfect and when there is a customer compl a business on social media, being a business owner myself I know that sometimes things happen and nobody’s perfect and when there is a customer complaint you do whatever possible to rectify it fix the problem and satisfy the customer. That being said I feel compelled to share my experience that I recently had with Zumbrota Ford. Last September I had been car shopping for quite some time and hadn’t found anything and it was recommended to check out Zumbrota Ford I did so and the sales team was amazing I purchased a vehicle two days later I changed my mind went back to Zumbrota Ford for a different vehicle they were amazing dealing with me the sales people the finance people everybody I was extremely happy with the service they provided. A few weeks ago my vehicle was driving funky I knew something was up a neighbor of mine is a very trusted mechanic who has fixed many of my cars I had him take a look he told me that my control arms and bushings were bad I called and made an appointment at some Zumbrota Ford because I had purchased an extended warranty that needed to be used through them. When I dropped my car off I let them know I did have it looked at and what I was told. A few hours later I got a call that those things were not wrong with my car that I needed new shocks they quoted me at just under $800 because of course shocks Are one of the few things my warranty did not cover. I immediately was hesitant and wanted a second opinion so I went and picked up my car they charged me $150 because I didn’t have them fix it. I took it and got a second opinion and was told my shocks were fine that I needed control arms and bushings they took photos where I could visually see that the bushing was cracked and the control arms needed to be replaced. I called my warranty company to see if I could bring my car elsewhere they told me that Zumbrota Ford would have to release me from my contract of having to use the warranty with them and if they did that then I could use it anywhere. I called them let them know how dissatisfied I was that I was told my control arms and bushings were fine and that it was my shocks I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but in this instance the first time I dropped the car off I told them those things were wrong they blatantly lied to me and said they were fine. They did not want to release me from my contract and told me to bring my car back to them and they would make it right and they would refund my $150 I was hesitant to do so but decided I would give them the opportunity to fix the mistake. I brought my car back I did not hear anything for three days so I called them and was told the part needed had to be ordered and it would be four days until the part came , after five days I hadn’t heard anything so I called them at that point I was told the part was on back order they had absolutely no idea when the part would come I asked them if my warranty allowed aftermarket parts they said yes then I asked if they had called around looking for a part other than through ford I wasn’t given an answer. So I started calling around sure enough the part needed nobody had in store but was told by multiple automotive stores they could order it and have the part in three days. I called Zumbrota Ford back let them know this at this point my car had been there for 14 days and not been fixed not one time had they contacted me for updates I continually had to contact them. I let them know that a few places in town could have the part in three days I couldn’t understand why I was doing their job finding a part for my car nobody had answers for me. I went today to pick up my vehicle because I found a mechanic shop in town that can have the part in 2 to 3 days and have my car to me by the end of the week. When I went to pick up my vehicle I asked for my $150 that was supposed to be refunded to me they refused to do so. So basically they first misdiagnosed my car after me telling them what was wrong I had to show them pictures of what needed to be replaced and then my car sat for 14 days they never ordered parts for the car continually told me they were on back order and had no idea when the part would come. SHAME ON ZUMBROTRA FORD! DO NOT EVER BRING YOUR VEHICLE THERE TO GET FiXED! I know people make mistakes mechanics are not perfect but they straight lied to Me telling me my shocks were bad and the other things were fine. I cannot even comprehend how they literally let my car sit for two weeks and didn’t even try to order parts from anywhere that could’ve gotten the parts there within days. it is scary to think that there are shops out there that will fix a problem that doesn’t need to be fixed and let you drive around with a serious problem that needed to be fixed. They did nothing to rectify the situation and were too cheap to refund me my $150. I love my Escape bought it with 20,000 miles and had planned on trading it in for a newer model once I hit 100,000 miles. They have forever lost my business and respect! More
