I took my Forester in because the check engine light had been on. The light went off during my drive to the dealer, who charged me $130 to inspect the vehicle and find nothing wrong with it. 1,500 miles lat been on. The light went off during my drive to the dealer, who charged me $130 to inspect the vehicle and find nothing wrong with it. 1,500 miles later, the check engine light was on again and the Forester would not accelerate normally. A Subaru dealer/service center closer to home determined that the check engine light was on because a sensor in the engine had gone bad. I paid the second dealer's $130 diagnostic charge, which was wrapped into the repair cost. It seems obvious that the sensor was going bad when this dealer checked it but didn't come up with the correct diagnosis. More
