Lie to make a sale Company blatently lies to its customers just to make a sale. OVERALL, I will say that the buying experience and the flow of it was pretty smooth Company blatently lies to its customers just to make a sale. OVERALL, I will say that the buying experience and the flow of it was pretty smooth and overall a great experience. HOWEVER...... I purchased the "Zurich" package which is a protection of your exterior clearcoat, seats and floors... This package is not exactly cheap, but I figured I was buying a newer truck, why not keep it super nice so I can own it for a long time, right? Apparently I was wrong. What they told me I was buying and what I am covered for and what I actually bought and am covered for are 2 completely different things. Here's what I was TOLD I was covered for vs. what I got in response to a claim: Exterior - 7 years worth of protection and coverage for any damage to the coating. NOT THE PAINT, the clearcoat overtop of the paint. Meaning, If I were to scrape the sides with tree's or metal or somebody keying your vehicle, that would not be covered, but salt damage, sap, tar, etc... would be. Was told "AT THE VERY LEAST...I could come in once a year and get it re-vamped and they could buff out all of the 'swirls' in the clear coat that you may get from a automatic car wash and whatnot to keep the truck looking new and shiny like it came off the lot. NO QUESTIONS ASKED, HASSLE FREE" THIS IS A LIE. I contacted Elhart to do just this along with interior things that I will be getting to in just a moment and I was told : "When you purchase a Zurich contract it is not a free detailing/cleaning service that is applied once a year (NOTE: I know it's not FREE, I paid A LOT for it... I obviously know they're not just going to vacuum my truck when I feel to lazy to do it... I'm not asking to remove the dog hair that was on the floor) , It is a warranty that covers specific damages that may occur such as bird droppings or tree sap damaging the paint, brake/rail dust or industrial fallout. Unfortunately they do not cover light scratches in the paint. It is only a one time application that comes with a warranty for these types of issues only." Interior (Seats and Floors) - I was told no matter what happens to the seats or floors, if we can't get them to look like new again, they'll be replaced "NO QUESTIONS ASKED, HASSLE FREE for 7 years". They continued to go on in such detail explaining these circumstances... "you can put a screwdriver in your pocket, sit in your seat and puncture it. Totally your fault, not the manufacturers, You're still covered! Same thing, set pocket knife on seats, turn wrong something happens and you tear the seats... bring it in...we'll fix it. So this intrigued me...I started listening and contemplating as I live on a farm and well...life happens and I have things in my pockets all the time.... They made sure to emphasize that it is STRICTLY the seats and floors....so if something happens to the dash, or center console etc, you will not be covered. Ok. I get that. Now (two years later) I have normal wear and tear on the seat where I get in and out all the time and it is cracked (not torn as the material under the vinyl/leather is still in tact). OK. So I called and stated this, and was told this: "Any seat/upholstery tears have to be 1 inch or less in length to be covered and they have to be on leather, they will not cover tears in cloth seats. I know yours is in the leather portion, but it is more than an inch in length so they would not cover this tear." So. Low and behold...Here is yet another LIE. At no point and time did ANYBODY mention ANYTHING about something being a inch or less...because honestly if you have cracking, or a tear in your seat how often is it going to be under an inch? That's obnoxious and that little detail alone would have deterred me from purchasing. Then we go on to the floors. I was told the same as I mentioned above. This covers the carpet, nothing else. "No matter what, if you get a stain that you can't get out yourself...we will get it out and if we can't, we will replace it to make it look brand new." They used the specific example of salt stains as we live in michigan and obviously everybody tracks salt into their vehicles. With the carpeting being black, salt would obviously stick out like a sore thumb. So they said "if you get salt stains that won't come out with a good scrub, bring it in." Guess what!? Yep, that too was a LIE. I did just that and this is what I was told: "For interior coverage they do not cover salt stains, pet hair, normal dirt or mud. It has to be a specific stain from a drink spilling, bodily fluids, lip stick, crayons, that sort of thing. " Umm.... WHAT?!? That statement there would have also deterred me from buying. The only reason I liked the floor coverage was for the fact of salt on black carpet is bound to be bad news. After that, I continued to email Cody Vandam at Elhart as I was referred to him as he handles all of the Zurich claims and whatnot and he finished his email with this: "I know you are frustrated and the info I just gave you is not what you want to hear. I apologize if you were told or are under the impression that all of these items are covered. I certainly don’t mean to brush you to the side, but I work in a completely different department than sales and finance where these packages are sold. I would suggest taking any issues up with the department that sold you the vehicle. " Ok. Great, he's up front, and honest and tells me that this is not his department and to follow up with a different department. Now, he still works for Elhart, not Zurich...So the RIGHT thing to do is tell me that, and say I'm passing this message along to the correct department and somebody will be in touch.... Obviously not what he said, so I replied with this: "I forwarded your email to our general sales manager. He said they don’t have control over what Zurich does and does not cover. I am sorry you are upset, but if you have further concerns you can call Zurich at 1-800-707-9292" So. I waited 3 days. Messaged Elhart again just to follow up as I know some things can slip through the cracks or the message was glanced at and forgotten as things happen when you're busy sometimes. So, I wait another week after that and still NOTHING. Not a call, not a email, just ignored. I notified them in the email to both Cody, and the follow up note that I sent that I would be contacting the Better Business Bearau as this is not right. I figured I would wait to do such a thing because if they made things right with me I wouldn't go forth with all the time and effort it is taking to write such a detailed review and though the multiple emails was more hassle than I was promised, if things were made right, I wouldn't bother. Well, Ignoring your customers isn't exactly the right thing to do either... So all in all, if I was told what the actual coverage was...this would not have been purchased and they know it. They straight up lie to you to make it sound like such a great deal and hassle free process to not worry for 7 years. Let me tell you. It's not hassle free...it's actually ALL hassle. I would not trust Elhart GMC in Holland MI if my life depended on it and you shouldn't either. I don't believe this is an issue on ZURICH's end, I think this all stems from Elhart GMC in Holland 100%. More
