I was at the Grossinger Autoplex on the 9th of July, 2011. We were looking for a new SUV, and stopped in to test-drive the Buick Enclave. The salesman—Louie—arranged a test drive for us. As we left t 2011. We were looking for a new SUV, and stopped in to test-drive the Buick Enclave. The salesman—Louie—arranged a test drive for us. As we left the complex, my wife pointed out that the fuel needle stated empty. Louie was emphatic that we’d be fine, even after a second prompting from my wife. Sure enough, after less than 2 miles of driving the car ran out of gas, leading to us pushing the car a block down a busy street in 90+ degree heat to get it out of traffic. Not an impressive start for an upscale dealership, but we laughed it off—big mistake on our part… After going through the usual pre-pricing back and forth, we asked them to come up with a number for us, including the trade-in of our current car. Louie asked us to initial a blank dealer quote form…”just as a formality”. Mistake number two, though not a huge one. Then we waited… And waited… And waited. We had our 8-month old with us, and he was getting fussy. We checked in at the center desk twice, and were assured Louie would be back with our quote imminently. After about an hour with nothing, we walked out of the place. As we strode by the desk, they assured us they would have the quote in a minute, and gave some song about looking into tax rates to try to get us the best deal. We told them we were done, and they could call us with a quote if they liked. We walked out anyway, not trusting them at this point. As we were about to drive away, Louie came out with a piece of paper with a quote, which I didn’t even look at beyond him reading the number. As it turns out the number he came up with was $11,970 after trade-in, which at the time meant nothing (but becomes important later). We acknowledge the offer and drove way pissed at the waste of time. Both Louie and the sales manager JP (I assume that is what he was) called later to apologize, restate the offer of $11,970 plus trade-in, and to please let them know if we were interested. We were deciding between the enclave at $11,970, and a Dodge Durango, which the dealership wanted $8500 after trade-in but appeared willing to come down further. On Monday, July 11th, Louie called again to apologize and ask if we were interested. I told him I had gotten my current car appraised at CarMax for $2,000 more than he was offering, and asked if they would reduce the price by that amount—to $9,700. He said he’d have to check with the manager and get back to me. About 20 minutes later he called back and said they could do $9,700. “$9,700, no tricks, no gimmicks, right?” I asked. “$9,790, just taxes and registration” he insisted. I had him confirm 3 times—because hey, I don’t trust salespeople—and swore I would be really pissed if they wasted my time. He confirmed over and over—he had talked to the manager and that was what they could do. So back to the dealership at 8:00 pm we went, with the baby again in tow. We showed up and asked him to confirm the number one last time, which he did, and then waited. And waited. And waited. We arrived at 8pm, and did basically nothing other than fill out the credit application (even though I was paying cash), for two hours. At 10:00 pm he is finally ready to sit down and do the deal, and the price is now $19,790. I just about flip my top. He looks at me like I am wrong—even though he still has the quote for $11,790 sitting on the table next to it, and we’ve agreed to take $2,000 off of that—all of which he confirms again. He goes away again, takes another 20 minutes, and come back to explain to me why the correct price is $19,790. Yes, they originally proposed $11,790, and offered to take $2,000 dollars off, but that makes $19,790 because this is an “expensive car”. I flip, so Louie goes to get the manager. He explains that they made a mistake (Louie multiple times, and him and JP at least once). “If they had made a smaller mistake they would honor it, but since they made a big one no way”. No apology, nothing. I explain they made the offer, I insisted Louie confirm it before wasting my time and they did, and I now expected them to honor the offer they insisted was valid. He stated they would not, that it was a mistake, and I should have caught it too “as I has signed the quote sheet”. Of course I had signed it when it was blank…but seriously, even if I hadn’t I was supposed to check their math? He simply stated no way, at which point I told him I would inform everyone I could think of what a con-job they were running. His response “Let me give you my card so you can be sure to spell my name right”. Needless to say he did not actually offer the card. I am a military officer with 18+ years in, have an 840+ credit score (verified by them in my 2-hour wait, even though, I repeat, I was paying cash), and have never in my life seen such a con job. I’ve been deployed all over, shopped in bazaars and dealt with cabbies in the seediest of places, and never had someone look my in the eye and try to raise a price by $10,000 without a blink or apology like that. Had any single piece of this been the entire story, I might have believed that there was an honest mistake. Put together, you can decide for yourself, but based on my interactions with them, they are worse than any Hollywood depiction of an evil used car dealership. Maybe I just won the lottery of bad luck from start to finish, but the attitude I received at the end makes that hard to believe. Needless to say, I bought the Durango, with $8500 and a trade-in as advertised. More
I was pleased with my experience with Grossinger. I bought a low mileage pre-owned van a few months ago. I felt the price was fair and salesman, Tom Olsen was a nice person to deal with -- knowledgable bought a low mileage pre-owned van a few months ago. I felt the price was fair and salesman, Tom Olsen was a nice person to deal with -- knowledgable but not pushy. I did not have any problem with financing as others have mentioned having and that went very smoothly. I have had a few issues with the van which has not been pleasing but each item has been covered by warranty. Jeff Gorman who I've dealt with in serving my van has been fantastic to deal with each time. He is upfront, clear, friendly, helpful and has great follow-through. More
After having this car for a month I was told that I wasn't financed and that I had to bring the car back, Now when I left the dealership I was financed through Captial One a few days later they said I wasn't financed and that I had to bring the car back, Now when I left the dealership I was financed through Captial One a few days later they said I wasn't. Then I was financed through Americredit and that one fell through as well. Now they saying they want the car back. I hope that they are well aware if I bring the car back I do want my 1500 cash that I gave them for the down payment. The purchasing experience was ok it's just the financing part. I would steer clear if Grossinger Autoplex. Something doesn't sit well with me about their financing dept. More

The guys at Grossinger Auto Group were awesome. Once again they were really friendly and curteous towards my wife and I. They bent over backwards to give us the best deal. The process was hassle-free again they were really friendly and curteous towards my wife and I. They bent over backwards to give us the best deal. The process was hassle-free and they didn't keep us waiting and wondering what they were doing behind closed doors. The salesman that assisted us was extremely easy to talk to and didn't try to sell us something we didn't want. We have purchased our last 4 cars through Grossinger and would not go anywhere else. The new class of world class which is Buick’s motto on their website for the new Buick Lacrosse is a motto that has been embraced by our sales person Jonathan Moscovitch. My wife and I were given Jonathan their website for the new Buick Lacrosse is a motto that has been embraced by our sales person Jonathan Moscovitch. My wife and I were given Jonathan’s name as a referral and from the minute I spoke to him on the phone until the minute we finished the deal I was treated with the utmost respect and a helpfulness that was unparalleled in all of my car buying experiences. He made the whole process easy, painless and fun for my wife and I. He took every last bit of the usual car purchasing process pain out of the equation and made the evening a wonderful night. We were dealt with in a very upfront no B.S. fashion without any of the usual salesman pitches or baloney. His knowledge of the products and willingness to help explain and set up our new vehicle was impressive. He is a fine example of what a car dealership’s representative should be. I did extensive online research with edmunds and kbb for msrp and invoice prices and I was well below the national average for my new Lacrosse CSX. It's a great feeling to get home loving your new car and knowing you got a great honest deal. More
Carlton was very courteous, helpful and most of all patient with us. We ended up not buying the car we were looking at that day, but who knows we just might end up finding just the right one from Gros patient with us.
