We had a really poor experience trying to buy a car at Zeigler. The first person we met with, Ozzy, was great and took us on a test drive. However, it went downhill as we got passed around to multiple dif Zeigler. The first person we met with, Ozzy, was great and took us on a test drive. However, it went downhill as we got passed around to multiple different people. We were prepared to pay cash but they still claimed they needed our income (individually, not household) and places of work (this didn't set off red flags in the moment but in hindsight, they had no reason to need this info for a cash buyer). They tried to add on some junk fees for their "LoJack" system that they installed on all their cars in case they're stolen. I can understand why they need that, but we didn't want it and certainly didn't want to pay for it. They really tried to emphasize how dangerous Chicago is and how many cars get stolen (can someone say fear mongering?!). We told them if they couldn't take it off, then lower the sticker price to offset it. They didn't budge a dollar on sticker price. And at one point one of the people came out from the back room and tried to use my husband's job against us basically saying we could afford their $1500 junk fee. It was incredibly rude and assumptive. Oh and they only looked at my husband when they talked! It was like I didn't exist despite me asking all the questions. We had been willing to take the sticker price but ended up walking after 3 hours when they wouldn't remove the junk fee. They claimed the car would sell immediately but it's been a week and the car has dropped $100 in price online and they keep contacting me trying to make the sale. We found the same car 1 model year newer, 5K fewer miles, and with added features this one didn't have for the exact same price somewhere else. Don't let these sleezy, sexist car salesmen take advantage of you! I had read the poor reviews of this dealership online and didn't want to believe them, but they were true. More
