Service Department Should Provide Service -- Not Sales It’s sad, but no surprise that I did not receive a survey from World Toyota or Toyota USA. As I read several other online reviews of the service a It’s sad, but no surprise that I did not receive a survey from World Toyota or Toyota USA. As I read several other online reviews of the service at World Toyota – it is very disappointing to see that there are many who have experienced the same poor customer relationship management that I experience. Sure – the waiting area is nice, bright, attractive, and plenty spacious. But that is where the good experience ends. World Toyota management needs to think very seriously about this pervasive culture of “upselling” in their Service Department. Like others I went to WT for overdue recall work that needed to be completed. Had I been able to go to a smaller, locally owned Toyota mechanic to complete this work – I would have. Believe me – I tried. So in addition to the recall work I asked WT to inspect and advise on the repair of a Driver’s Side Windshield Wiper damaged in a massive storm from the night before. Once the work began, first I was approached by the Sales Advisor and had it explained to me that they needed to “remove the cowl” to inspect the motor to make sure there was no damage. That seemed plausible and a reasonable preventative measure. Although I did not like that they had to charge me $75 just to remove this cowl. I felt I had no choice but to approve the labor for the inspection only to have him tell me that the motor was fine. But the wiper arm had to be replaced. They did NOT have the arm in stock so I would have to (A) pay for it that day, but (B) come back the next day to have it installed … for over $230. Then the Service Advisor proceeded to list a whole litany of maintenance items that needed to be performed … some made sense (and I already had previous information to support their report), and a few other things that were highly suspect. In the end … the total to drive out was going to be over $5,000. This is some pretty distressing news considering Carmax indicated they would only give me $9,000 for the vehicle. Another example of deception on even the smallest scale: it was reported that two license plate lights needed to be replaced. Their explanation of the “inspection” indicates that the technician will “remove the license plate assembly and determine if it can simply be cleaned or if it must be replaced. The technician disconnects and inspects the wiring and connectors to ensure that the corrosion has not contaminated these. Once the electrical components of the new assembly have been reconnected, the technician will install a new bulb and reassemble the part into the deck lid assembly.” I declined ALL the requested service and paid my $64.98 plus taxes and Shop Fee for a total drive out of $74.82. Mind you … my windshield wiper was still inoperative at this point. That charge was just for their inspection. I went straight to Advance Auto Parts and purchase a full set of wiper blades … not the wiper arm, just the blades. I also purchased a set of replacement bulbs for the license plate lights. The rest of the repairs were fair above my capabilities. But I bent the wiper arm back into shape BY HAND … my own hands. Then I replaced the blades. I tightened the bolt … and saved close to $200. What about the license plate lights: well – when I put the screwdriver to the screw in the assembly … the lights came on. Not just one, but both of them. So I completely perplexed how if they actually disassembled the assembly like their write up says, how they did not have the same experience I had. So now I have a pack of $6 bulbs that I don’t even need yet. I was told this was going to be at least $15 - $17 (even though $3.52 was in the grid handed to me by the Service Advisor). At that point … I did not want him to even explain himself. A week has gone by and I still have not received an email from World Toyota asking about my service experience or for me to complete a survey. All I received was a text from the service advisor telling me that if I was not 100% fully satisfied with my experience to call him. THEN – to add salt to the wound … the next communication I received from World Toyota was from their Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales Manager. What a slap in the face. They provide terrible service and then want me to buy a vehicle from them. Not one email, but two … from the same person. Despite my advising them VERY CLEARLY that I was completely dissatisfied with my experience. I sent a message to their Contact Us link on their website since I did not receive a survey. No response. Next day – no response. Next day – no response. The last feedback I received was from the General Manager. What did he want: to understand how he could help me traverse a confusing Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales experience. THIS MADE NO SENSE TO ME. Nothing about this experience seems right. I hope none of you reading this ever have to experience anything like it. World Toyota need to get their priorities straight. More

However, customer service representative tried to force me to pay for something that should have been been provided under warranty. When I stated that he tried to convince me that the warranty on my vehicle was two year when it actually is a three year warranty. I am sure the fact that I am a woman encouraged this behavior. The last time my car was serviced at this location (just an oil change, balance and rotation) it was severely damaged by the mechanic. Dealership replaced tire and repaired vehicle, but I should have known better than to come back for more disappointed. Never again! More

At each new request we received an automated email to purchase a new car, and we have never been contacted by an agent or manager despite our repeated requests. We are extremely disappointed and cannot recommend that TOYOTA leader! Martine More
Bad experience I took my car in to have service required by a recall. Normally, my car is serviced by a trusted mechanic. I was in need of an oil change so I asked I took my car in to have service required by a recall. Normally, my car is serviced by a trusted mechanic. I was in need of an oil change so I asked that be done too. I figured I was safe with that request. I contacted the service representative a couple hours later and he told me that they had discovered that I needed a new oil pan, almost $600 parts and labor. I asked for details and discovered they had stripped the plug. When I protested at the shoddy work that had resulted in the stripping of the threads, the rep kept yelling at me that It had been three years since I had been to World Toyota as though my neglect, not theirs had caused the problem. I asked them to leave my car alone and had it towed to my mechanic. This was a huge inconvenience for me and took nearly all day. My mechanic fixed the threads, put in a new gasket and plug, all for under $40. I will never go to World Toyota for anything again. Nice attempt at ripping off a woman. More
