I have bought several cars from Gerry at Spartan Toyota, and once again I walked away impressed. I am a single woman and they always take the time to explain things and they are honest as the day is long. I and once again I walked away impressed. I had an absolutely great experience with this dealership. My old car was destroyed in a flood and my insurance did not cover it. While I have a good job and some credit, I had never financed a c dealership. My old car was destroyed in a flood and my insurance did not cover it. While I have a good job and some credit, I had never financed a car before. They went above and beyond to not only finance me, but to get me into a great certified pre-owned Rav4. My main goals were to get a certified car, preferably an SUV, with a 4cyl motor and good ground clearance. They originally had difficulty financing be due to my limited credit, but they found a vehicle that was an '06 instead of the '08 I wanted, and put a bumper to bumper warranty on it. They certified it and also sold me on some other great insurance packages like gap coverage and disability insurance. I feel incredibly confident working with this dealership and I really feel like not only did they find a perfect vehicle for me, they went above and beyond to get me financed for my first car loan. For a certified car I was advised by them to buy a '7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty'. I realized later by looking at 'http://www.toyotacertified.com/' that certified means that the abo '7-year/100,000-mile Limited Powertrain Warranty'. I realized later by looking at 'http://www.toyotacertified.com/' that certified means that the above is included. Not only that they will sell you not what you negotiated for but a completely different vehicle and charge you the same price. They are CHEATS. Beware. More
We tried to buy a 2010 Prius from this dealer. A sign on the rear view mirror of the car we wanted advertised the selling price as $2227 less than sticker. However, after they finished their creative math, the rear view mirror of the car we wanted advertised the selling price as $2227 less than sticker. However, after they finished their creative math, the actual discount was $360 below sticker. Also, the salesman showed us his laptop with the Kelly Bluebook page displayed with our trade-in on it; however, the prices shown were $1200-1600 less than what we saw on the Kelly Bluebook pages at home. When we later asked Kelly how this was possible, they suggested that Spartan Toyota was actually showing us the Wholesale Loan Value web site that is only available to dealers. As a result of all this, we did not purchase the Prius from Spartan Toyota. More
If you are considering buying a car from this dealer, I suggest you record everything they say or represent. I bought a used car that I was told was a new car trade-in. Was hesitant on the price, but w suggest you record everything they say or represent. I bought a used car that I was told was a new car trade-in. Was hesitant on the price, but was told there was a 150 point inspection so I can be assured everything works. The gas gage showed full as I pulled away. I didn't even get home before the car informed me it was out of gas. Turns out the gas gage was broken; a $300-500 repair. Also found in the car was a check list from Flint Auto Auction. I called and explained the problem, and was treated extremely rude. Was told if I wanted an extended warranty, I should have bought one. I explained the misrepresentation and the 150 point checklist and what was said to me and that this was a problem before I bought it. They didn't care. In my opinion, this dealer completely fits the negative stereotype of car salesmen! More
I was in on a Saturday haggling over the price of a used FJ Cruiser. I had lent them the keys to my truck so they could evaluate it for a trade-in. When we couldn't agree on a price and I turned to leave, I FJ Cruiser. I had lent them the keys to my truck so they could evaluate it for a trade-in. When we couldn't agree on a price and I turned to leave, I discovered I didn't have that set of keys. They said they didn't have them. I did have my backup set. I wnet out to my truck and kept looking for the original set. I returned inside, and finally, they admitted they had them. They all had a good chuckle about hiding the customers keys. At this point I realized I was back with the junior high pranksters. And I should trust these bozos? Oh I forgot. These are car salesmen! More
I bought my Toyota at another dealership but had it serviced at Spartan. The vehicle needed major engine work every year for the first three years I owned it. On the second such occassion, I had to serviced at Spartan. The vehicle needed major engine work every year for the first three years I owned it. On the second such occassion, I had to go back and forth with the service department to get them to fix the problem. They initially told me there was no problem after they had a look. I insisted that there was and they should look again. If I did not know as much as I do about cars, I would have taken them at their word and continued to drive with a major engine defect; causing significantly more damage to the vehicle. On the third such occasion, the vehicle was no longer under warranty so I took it to a trusted independent mechanic. I have had no problems with the vehicle since, and it's been over 6 years. Perhaps this is a coincidence, but I don't think it is. More
Excellent Service from the front of the house to the back of the house. They have honored everything I asked them to do. Mainly for the TSB's and warranty work. I always got a loaner even when they had of the house. They have honored everything I asked them to do. Mainly for the TSB's and warranty work. I always got a loaner even when they had the car for only a few hours. It PAYS to be kind and friendly FIRST! If you come in demanding this & that then expect "So-So Service". That is with anyone you do business with. I understand that people DEMAND service...but...still, if you are workable and kind then it is amazing at how much other people WANT to help you out. nothing wrong with being FIRM...but, if you come in acting like you are ALL That...then don't cry about service then. I just tell you one thing. Never leave a change in your car because they will ALWAYS steal it. I have tried this fact many times. If you do not believe me just leave a quarter in your car before service. A car because they will ALWAYS steal it. I have tried this fact many times. If you do not believe me just leave a quarter in your car before service. Another thing is that they never honor your waranty unless you force them. I called toyota costumer service to be able to get my money back for a charge which was covered by the waranty. More
