When looking for my new Toyota Tacoma, I first visited the dealer in my city, Spartan Toyota. I visited twice, as I was a serious buyer. Although the salesman/sales manager and anyone else didn't think the dealer in my city, Spartan Toyota. I visited twice, as I was a serious buyer. Although the salesman/sales manager and anyone else didn't think so. Didn't have anything on the lot even remotely what I was looking for, so said they could order it new from the factory, 45-90 days. Did not seem interested at all in dealing. I made an appointment with Sunshine Toyota in Battle Creek. A realatively pleasant drive and met the salesmen there, he was right on time and ready for me. Wonderful man. Had plenty of Tacomas on the lot, not one that fit my needs, but I could drive a couple of them that were close. That he didn't have just what I wanted, we went over the options and body style, he telling me, 'no problem' his dealership would go as far as five hundred miles away and make a swap with another dealer. Just asked for two color choices. Within 10 days, the truck of my dreams was there waiting for me. Tacoma 4x4, Automatic, Access Cab, SR5 and all the options I wanted, plus being my first color choice. Two days later, I was driving it home. Salesman at Sunshine also worked out a very good price, including incentives that Spartan did not tell me about. In short, Spartan Toyota did nothing for me... seemingly not caring if we did business or not. The Dealer in Battle Creek went the extra effort (didn't even work up a sweat, it was just business as usual for them), and we made a deal that we were both happy with. They do not properly service your vehicle, I have caught them repeadly not doing what they tell you they have done; like rotating your tires. I put touchup paint on one tire to clearly identify where the tire was before taking it in for my 15,000 mile service, because I knew they didn't rotate the tires on the 10,000 mile service. When they returned my car the marked tire was in the same location. I made them take it back in and do the tire rotation. On the 20,000 mile service the marked tire was not moved it was right where it was when I left home that morning. I talked to Joe Criscuolo, who basically tried to tell me that the marked tire had been moved. Amazing; The tire moved but the marks remained…………. There have been many other items I have caught them not performing on my vehicle and this last time I also lowered the pressure of the spare tire as they are suppose to check that too. It was not checked as the pressure was at 19 lbs. where I had lowered it too. The first time the tires weren’t rotated, my husband mentioned it to a friend who has a new vehicle, also purchased and serviced at Spartan Toyota, he said that he too had caught them not properly servicing his vehicle too. My car only had 2000 miles on it when it developed a problem. I took it in and told them exactly where I was hearing the noise and that it sounded like an animal was trying to get out. At 2600 miles the noise cam back and I took it in immediately. This time they found that an animal had shredded the cabin air filter and had brought walnuts in to the same area. This was not covered under the warranty and I had to pay $68 for the new filter. The Service Manager argued with me that I didn't know what I was talking about and told me I was wrong when I mentioned that if they had checked that the first time I brought it in it might not have cost me so much. I did point them to the exact place and told them about an animal sound the first time I came in. I'm very disappointed with the treatment I received. More

Would never do business with this dealership or recommend them to anyone. I was so stressed out that I had severe chest pains and spent 2 days in the hospital. First they told me they could get me the new car I was looking for in the color I wanted. The salesman suggested we test drive the Rav4 on their lot even though it was not the color I wanted. He then told me (after the drive) that they could not get the vehicle I wanted, but he would give me a good deal on the one we test drove as it had been setting on their lot too long. When Derick and Duane bought the contract back, it was $460. OVER the sticker price on the vehicle and advertised price. To top this off, I had purchased a 2008 Corolla from Spartan Toyota just 1-1/2 years prior and I had already paid off the loan. They did all the service work on my vehicle and it was in excellent condition with no work needed. The contract the salesperson brought out listed a trade in value of $4,500. I was shocked, but wanted a new vehicle so bad I caved in. Imagine my surprise when in the next two days I saw my traded in vehicle listed for $11,995. on their website. This was a $7,480. profit for them just from my trade-in. I immediately contacted them and Lou the sales manager told me to come in and they would make this right. He said the best he could do was to give me $500. more for my trade-in Corolla, and $500. for the amount they charged over sticker price on the new vehicle. Needless to say, they made a huge profit from me. Spartan Toyota scammed me and low-balled my trade in to the point it should be criminal. I will NEVER recommend them to anyone. More
Our experience was very positive. Jason Husband is an outstanding salesman; Jim Keyton is an outstanding sales manager; and Shay Straayer is an outstanding business manager. We were able to lease a outstanding salesman; Jim Keyton is an outstanding sales manager; and Shay Straayer is an outstanding business manager. We were able to lease a 2011 Toyota Rav4 Limited, a high-end car we didn't think we could afford. But the Spartan staff helped us qualify for the college benefit for our son, which lowered the monthly payment. I have done a lot of research on crossover SUVs and visited several dealers. My wife and I appreciated working with this dealership most. More
