Car purchase- Worst Experience in our life On Sunday, April 29, my wife and I came up to your dealership because our son was still in college with two weeks left before graduating. We had less On Sunday, April 29, my wife and I came up to your dealership because our son was still in college with two weeks left before graduating. We had less than an hour, so we thought we’d just kick some tires and take pictures of the different colors available to text to our son, who was away at school We ended up in the Sales department and were set up with a young man named Wens. He was very polite and a nice young man. We have absolutely no complaints about Wens. However, we then met with Wally Sabet. Wally seemed low key (how we were wrong) and he seemed to be giving a great deal. We explained that our son was graduating and asked about the college discount. We told him that he was still in school but graduating with-in two weeks. He said that was great and he ended up taking the $1,250 new graduate discount. We left a $500 deposit, on which he had written and signed that it was REFUNDABLE. Three times during this transaction, we mentioned that our son just had a 3rd interview for a position with a Premier Financial Institution. We left there and kept saying how fast and no xx it had been. How it was the nicest car buying/leasing experience we had ever had. The next day, I picked up my son at Bentley and brought him to Woburn Toyota to what I thought be a quick experience. I put down an additional $1500 and we were waiting to sign papers and get my son back to school to finish studying for his sr. college finals that would begin the next day. After sitting much to long we were met by Wally and were told that because Ryan did not yet have a job, he was not eligible for the $1,250 new graduate discount. I told him that he never mentioned that and we never said he was working which would have been impossible where he was a fulltime student with two weeks left in college being a senior. He was obviously aggravated at us and said he would get it close to what it was and I replied if this wasn’t exact that it was no problem and we would just cancel the sale. I had called my wife and she and I are completely sure of this. Wally went on and on saying that he had told us this. In the meantime, I called another Toyota dealer and asked if this was the case. They assured me that it was NOT. My wife drove up to your dealership to meet my son and I again advised Wally of this. Wally began to tell me that he swore on his stepson’s life that he did tell us this caveat. I told him what the other dealership had told me and he told me that “they are liars”. So, we shot right back, that maybe he didn’t tell us the whole truth. He got extremely hot under the collar and told me that we had to apologize to him. He became a mean and demanding person. He told me that I was not a nice person and that the day before I had seemed so nice. I told him that I felt he was trying to bait and switch me. My wife and I decided to cancel the deal and requested our Deposit back, Time and Time Again, Wally would leave us for long periods of time and then come back and start all over that I owed him an apology. He refused to listen that we wanted to cancel this deal. I reminded him that he had written on the contract that it was refundable and if we didn’t have the deal that we had. After my wife left, Wally came up with a different deal by lowering the monthly payment by $25. We ended up just going through with a deal knowing my son would be soon starting a new job upon graduating and needing a car. I had scheduled to pick up the car on that Wednesday, May 2nd. That morning I receive a call from Finance saying that they needed a copy of our son’s college transcripts to make sure that he was a graduate. Completely understand that part but they could not tell us two days before this was happening so we could have it ready. The university took care of this right away and I followed through with both our sales person and finance. They tell me it’s all set to pick up and that’s all that was needed. My wife sends an email about the whole purchase and the GM of Woburn Toyota states that there are other issues and they need a few other things tied up. This was unknown to me where when I entered the lot ours salesperson happened to be parking the new car and said it was ready to go. I ended up driving away with the car and parking it. I ended up seeing the message from the GM and called. He informed me that Toyota isn’t accepting the transcripts that were provided because there is no estimated graduation date on them. This program is not a program that is offered by Woburn Toyota directly it is Toyota financial services program and they are very nonflexible with the requirements He said. TFS called Bentley to see if they could get it however they wouldn’t provide it to them but said the student can pull it offline from the student’s login. So we pulled it off his college account and pasted back to the email and this was not acceptable. So here is my son that has busted his butt for 4 years in a very tough academic school in his finals having to go to the Registrar’s Office to make sure they send out confirmation on letterhead his graduation date which was in 7 days on May 19th. This truly aggravated us where we have him doing this crap during his senior finals week. The GM had said that he wasn’t trying to be difficult which is pretty laughable. This will have been my 5th Toyota I have purchased in 11 years (3 FJ's, 4 Runner and now a RAV4 and there is no way that I will ever purchase a vehicle from Woburn Toyota and probably not Toyota again. Serious does someone in Toyota Finance actually think that we are trying to pull something over on them to get an additional discount? That is insulting. Making a 21 year old jump through hoops the week of his senior finals.... completely inexcusable. Everything is Woburn Toyota's fault and could/should have been avoided if your arrogant Sales Manager Wally Sabet listened Monday evening and cancelled the sale/request refund that I asked 3 times instead of using classic stall tactics until he figured a way to make it work on the last day of the month. Then your finance guy, plays Mickey the Dunce and never utters a word in regard to having any other information sent along that Ryan would need until two days later We followed finance instructions exactly when he called and stated he only needed a copy of Ryan's Bentley Transcripts, which Ryan got from the Registers Office. Ryan then sent out the transcripts to finance as requested. I am not going to bother copying the emails that were sent back and forth but mostly it has to do with the lack of communication along with the incompetence of your sales manager and finance person. Do you have any idea of the excitement that our son had for his 1st ever Brand New car? Do you realize how badly your staff have disappointed and made this experience so horrible that it has taken all the joy out of this for him and for us to witness as his parents. I live every day of my life, looking forward, hoping to be here to experience the next milestone in my son’s lives. And to have this experience turn out so horribly by your inept staff is something that we will never get back and never forget. This whole sale and situation was avoidable along with in the end being completely inexcusable. Georgecares.com...……..laughable Woburn. More
