Kristin, I am very glad to hear that you have made it safely to Texas, and am very sorry that you had such a rough journey getting there. As you know the vehicle came to us originally with rough running, rod-knocking noises in addition to the spark plug issues. In looking through your vehicle history with Toyota, it is clear we weren’t the first dealership service department to see the vehicle in its rough mechanical condition. It has been in several other shops with runability issues over the last few years. Upon inspection here, it was noted by the technician that were multiple items that needed to be addressed, spark plugs being just one of them. We proceeded with the minimal repairs per your request. Unfortunately these connectors clips can sometimes become brittle and break due to engine heat over time and mileage causing the wires to disconnect. I am sorry that this happened after your single visit here, however I do not believe there was any negligence on our part due to age, mileage, and previous vehicle history. There really is only one thing to address here. The fact that your technician did not install the new sparks plugs in the correct manner. If you know that the clips wear out and become "brittle" all the more that should have extra attention to being installed when you are installing new spark plugs? No clips were there after it blew up. Were they even installed? Did they become brittle after one week of wear? Seems like that would be on the checklist with a new spark plugs. The other stuff you are trying to address, first off is incorrect...there was no low knocking noise when we brought the car in, nor did the technician share any list of "multiple items" that needed addressing verbal OR written on the invoice. Every service center I have been to at least writes what they recommend. Any vehicle "history" was addressed by Gladstone and Beaverton as needed when needed. And efficiently done. The mileage, wear, or history of repair have nothing to do with the mistake your technician made. It was a terrible mistake and these kind of mistakes can truly have effect on people's lives.
