Wait for scheduled oil change and tire rotation was far too long and from disgruntled murmurs from other customers around me my experience didn’t seem to be unique. Pushing 3 hours is unacceptable. There was a time I would’ve recommended Wilson Toyota, but no longer. This is mainly due to their service department and multiple instances regarding service on my minivan. For example, they recommended a but no longer. This is mainly due to their service department and multiple instances regarding service on my minivan. For example, they recommended a battery replace because of the cold cranking amps. They said the reading they were getting was too low and the battery needed to be replaced. However, if one looked at the battery, they could see that the cold cranking amp reading, was just fine for that battery another time, we brought our car in for an oil change and inspection and they told us our tires were fine however, they were not and when we went on a trip one of them was so bald that it ruptured during the drive. I know ultimately, that is my responsibility to check the tires however, when you bring a car in for a service check Which includes checking tire tread you would’ve think they would’ve caught that. On my most recent trip I had a scheduled oil change and tire rotation. Normally that takes a very short period of time but this time it took several hours. What is the point of scheduling an oil change and the dealer doesn’t keep it scheduled time? It would’ve been nice to have given me an update. Letting me know there was a delay, but I heard nothing when my car finally was driven out. I asked if I could take it and go. But apparently the paperwork wasn’t done yet and so I had to wait longer. It was interesting to watch the people who got there after me leave before me I get it that sometimes things take longer than normal but at least be communicative about it when you go to a dealer you expect better service than you would at a quick oil change place but sadly, that is no longer the case with Wilson Toyota in Ames. I would go elsewhere where there is better and less expensive services. More
