If, as you imply, the preference is to sell to local buyers only: 1. That doesn't really make sense, 2. Be honest about that in the cars.com listing, and 3. It would have been easy for the salesperson, Cyndi, to have said I had no chance of owning this vehicle. When I made my initial inquiry through cars.com, I made it clear I was not a local buyer. I also made it clear I really wanted that Seltos. Cyndi could have responded by saying the dealership is entertaining local inquiries only--or she could have chosen never to respond at all. It would have been annoying, but less annoying than ghosting me after getting my hopes up. At least that way she could have avoided wasting any more of my time.
