We are sorry to hear about your experience with your new Accord. It is unfortunate that something chewed through the wire harness on your vehicle several weeks after you took delivery of your vehicle. The Honda Warranty Coverage will repair or replace any part that is defective in material or workmanship under normal use. American Honda declined to pay for repairing your vehicle since a rodent chewing wires is not considered a manufacturer defect, and not something covered by their warranty. We recommend you contact your insurance company to cover the repairs. Since the power steering is an electric power assist, had something occurred while at our facility, a previous dealership or at the American Honda manufacturer the power steering would not function when you took delivery of your vehicle. It would be just like flipping a light switch. Even if the wire were partially severed, there would have been a warning indicator. The technician noted the wire was completely severed, which indicates this was not a prior existing condition.
