The process of buying the car was relatively smooth, but even at that point she had complaints about the quality of the customer service she received. She managed to complete her purchase, and got a nice Subaru Forester, certified pre-owned. The only problem was that the windshield wipers didn't work, and that was part of the guaranteed inspection. We went in to set up an appointment and were told that they would have the part in a week. A month later, we still hadn't heard back. Now they won't even return our calls, and a generally just failing to do their jobs. Go elsewhere for service, these people are terrible. More

I don't know how to delete my previous review so I have to say that I just got off the phone with Cary from the Car Store and we worked things out. I still am paying more than I was quoted over the phone but I remain satisfied with this deal. He was honest with me and we had a great conversation. All is well. I will go back and pick the car up tomorrow. More

I had also had exhaust work done at the same time and now they're saying that I have to have it done again. When I received my robo call and email asking for feedback on my service experience, I gave it a detailed and negative review and received a robo "thank you for your feedback", and follow up by a human being was cursory and was not followed up further by the person who called. This latest incident was similar in that the timing chain was brought up again--though he didn't argue with me this time. I had to order a part and was supposed to come back at 2pm this Friday. When something came up and I called to reschedule, I was told that there was no appointment scheduled and no information about the status of the part order in the computer. I suppose that I should expect this as the buying experience at this dealership was very bad 5 years ago. I would never buy another car at this dealership even though I love the Forrester. I go there for service only because it is the closest to home and work. I would have to drive over a half hour north or south to get to another Subaru dealership. More
Here's the short version. Bought a new 2011 on a Monday. They said it was a "fluke" and reset the lights. On Wednesday, the lights went on again. They have no idea what's wrong. They're grasping at straws, a fuse problem? I'm still waiting for my car to get "fixed" a week after I bought it. I have no faith in their service department, nor in their sales and financing departments. Not a single person was apologetic regarding this "fluke"! No one seemed to care at all. If you shop at this store "BUYER BEWARE!" You will be left high and dry without a sensible, concerned human being to talk with. DO NOT GO HERE! If my problem gets fixed, I will definitely be going to another dealer for service. If it doesn't get fixed I will be starting "Lemon Law" arbitration because I'm one service problem away from having officially bought a lemon. More
I went to The Car Store over a year ago to purchase my first vehicle. Although the salesperson was friendly, he was not very knowledgeable. I ended up buying a 2002 Forester, which had supposedly passed a first vehicle. Although the salesperson was friendly, he was not very knowledgeable. I ended up buying a 2002 Forester, which had supposedly passed a 152-point inspection. There's no way that car was inspected at all, because it broke down 32 miles after I purchased it. The alternator was bad and needed to be replaced. They did this for free, but they were not friendly about it at all. A few weeks later, the car broke down again outside of NYC. I had to have it towed to a dealership down there and rent a car to drive back to VT to work the next day. When I went to pick up the car in NY, I was told that the only thing wrong with it was that the battery terminal hadn't been installed correctly by the service department at The Car Store. This mistake, which involved only a $10.00 part, ended up costing me over $700.00 in rental cars and towing services. Michael Lawless, the sales manager at The Car Store, was unapologetic and refused to pay for any of this. During the 16 months I owned this car, it needed major repairs every few months just to stay on the road. I will NEVER deal with this dealership again. The people there are criminals. If you care about your safety and don't enjoy throwing your hard-earned money away, stay far, far away. More
