The Whitaker Buick Company started business in 1954 on University Avenue in St. Paul. At just 30 years old, founder Bill Whitaker was among the youngest GM dealers in the country. His attention to personal service and emphasis on integrity led to sales and service leadership for the Buick brand in the Greater St. Paul/Minneapolis area and beyond. With the departure of dealerships from the crowded confines of inner city locations, current President Steve Whitaker moved its operation to FOREST LAKE in 2006.
Located just 4 miles north of the I-35E/35W junction, Whitaker is easy to find at the intersection of I-35 and County Rd 2 (Broadway Avenue).

Outstanding All Around I went there for maintenance on one of my vehicles and there turned out to be some pretty major repairs needed so I was there for a while. While I wai I went there for maintenance on one of my vehicles and there turned out to be some pretty major repairs needed so I was there for a while. While I waited I looked at the pickups they had there and asked about the sales event that was going on. I was approached by Jimmy and I told him exactly what I was looking for, thinking that they wouldn't have it. But they did. I took it for a test drive and fell in love with it. Jimmy was a pleasure to work with and is very knowledgeable about what he is selling. I made an offer the next day and we agreed on a price. Long story short, I didn't go there looking for a new vehicle but left with one anyway and got exactly what I wanted at a fair price. More importantly, I didn't buy it because I was being pressured which is one of a buyers biggest pet peeves. In closing out the paperwork I had the please of being assisted by Bob and he was great. Lastly, when I got my car fixed (which is why I went there in the first place) I felt absolutely comfortable working with Mike and his service team. I truly felt like they had my best interest in mind through the whole experience and I will go nowhere else from now on. Thanks Whitaker! More

Ram 2500 We weren't told until after we signed the paper work that our vehicle only came with one key. Then was told that our salesman would contact us on Mond We weren't told until after we signed the paper work that our vehicle only came with one key. Then was told that our salesman would contact us on Monday as he would call the previous owner to see if there was another key for our vehicle. Well Mike never called or returned our emails and whenever we were online to chat with him he would disappear as he could see who he was chatting with. When we contacted the sales manager about Mike not returning our calls he got Mike on the phone, but then was told once again that Mike would get back with us as he was going to check on the key from the previous owner. Once again he never got back to us as promised and now we are out $273 for a spare key for our vehicle. Just would have been nice to have been told this before we signed the paper work. Once the deal is done Mike does not care about his customers at all. Only until this was posted, then we finally received a call and a check was mailed for half of what the new key will cost us. More

Totally changed my mindset about buying a car!! In the past, my car shopping has been through a family member who was employed by a different car dealership. I wasn't sure what to expect - preconce In the past, my car shopping has been through a family member who was employed by a different car dealership. I wasn't sure what to expect - preconceived about a dealership just wanting to make a sale. But this was a great car shopping experience. My father-in-law did some of the leg work research on vehicles with Paul Novak, so when I went to the dealership, I was able to be relaxed and test drive the 2015 GMC Terrain Paul had available. After the test drive, we knew it was the vehicle we wanted to get. Paul walked my husband and me through the purchase (this was a former courtesy vehicle for customers, I don't know if that qualifies as new or used) and has been great with any follow up questions. I would not hesitate to send family and friends to talk with Paul about the purchase of a vehicle. As a matter of fact, I did! A week after our purchase, Paul also helped my sister find a good used vehicle with features she needs for certain physical limitations she has. And Mike Gaydos was also great at providing additional explanation of some of the Intellilink system. (I sometimes need to hear things more than once to understand.) I appreciate the team work at closing - the paperwork was not overwhelming. Looking forward to years of service at this dealership! More
