Due to a change in my wife's hours at work, we needed to add a second vehicle. In March I notified Michael Kelnhofer and Dan Wheeler about the approaching need. I had seen a 2006 HHR listed online at their sister store in Medford, WI. Dan arranged to have the vehicle brought to Marshfield for a test drive. When I arrived Michael met me and showed me some of the features that the HHR had. With permission from Michael we drove the car approximately 30 miles to get a feel for how the car performed on the open road. We then told Michael we were interested in the vehicle. Michael said we would know about financing the next day. After talking to Michael, I called Greg Crowell in service. I asked Greg if they had seen any problems out of the ordinary with the HHR. He said actually they hadn't seen many HHRs come in other than for oil changes. He did warn me that there was noise in the suspension of the HHRs but that was totally normal and he explained how the suspension worked in a nutshell so I could understand what was happening. The next day we were approved for financing but the monthly cost was more than we could pay. Michael said he and Dan would look for a different vehicle that would meet our needs in our price range. A few weeks later my wife was notified her hours would rapidly change which meant we would need to quickly find a second vehicle. I immediately called Wheelers to tell Michael. Michael was not available so I talked to Dan Wheeler. This was on a Saturday and Dan said they still didn't have a vehicle in our price range but he said he would see what he could do on Monday when the full staff was at the dealership. By the end of that week, Wheelers dropped the price of the HHR to our price range and we purchased the vehicle. I have been a long time customer of Wheelers and still was impressed with how smoothly this used car purchase went. Michael went out of his way to show us all of the features of the HHR. He even went so far as to help us locate a cigarette lighter cover (which was missing). He found one and didn't charge us for the piece. So far we love our HHR. The only problem we have had was one of the key remotes was broken when we purchased the vehicle. Michael worked with us and was willing to change the battery but the remote had broken pieces inside, so it obviously was a deeper issue. He took us to service where Marlita suggested we take the remote to be soldered at a local radio/tv repair shop. Cost was $5 at the tv repair shop, and it partially fixed the remote. Took the remote back to Wheelers where Greg waited on me. He cleaned and inspected the remote and then came out to the HHR and tried many times and finally got the remote somewhat working. Again I was impressed with Greg and Marlita both going above and beyond the call of duty to help us with the issue. Thank you Wheelers for a job well done and for getting us into a great car at such short notice. More
On 3-13-12 I filled outand submitted an online build sheet for a 2012 GMC Sierra 3500 4x4 with Duramax diesel engine. This is a vehicle that stickers at over $61,000. Shortly after submission I received a "canned" confirmation email suggesting I "view the feedback page while awaiting my reply" and noting Mary Jo and Daniel Wheeler as "The Wheeler Family". On 3-28-2012 after several days of no response I replied to the auto email with this message: "I’m not sure who is supposed to do the follow ups, but someone is not doing their job. I am no longer looking, but felt I should pass along my disgust. No it did not get stuck in my SPAM filter as I watched this closely and other dealer replies made it through just fine." There was no response to this email so on 4-2-2012 I replied again this time copying Mary Jo Wheeler with this message: "Just FYI nobody from Wheelers appears to be watching EmailNotification@0rqh9fa.WheelersAutomotive.onesource1.gmtorque.com or the web side of things. I have since ordered a truck, but felt you should know this." Again no response as of today 4-3-2012. I queried 3 other dealers with this same system and received prompt replies from them. It is sad because I am the type of customer that prefers to keep this sort of thing local first, but it looks like I'll be driving 2.5hrs to pick up my new GMC as I found the most outstanding customer service in Ellsworth WI. More
Drove to Marshfield to do some other shopping, and saw Wheeler's so we drove in and there it was - the vehicle I've been hoping to find. Went in and was greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable salesperson. Great experience overall - responsive and knowledgeable. Have never had this kind of experience before - normally when you go pick up a vehicle you are in and out in 15 minutes - Michael spent all the time needed to show us how all of the feature on the vehicle worked and made sure we had everything we needed. Ashley was very helpful and answered every question that we had. She isn't one of those "pushy" saleman and that is the reason that we actually came back to Wheelers to buy the car. When we walked into Wheelers we were met by very friendly salespersons and introduced to the staff. Joe Krasne then approached us and when he found out we were interested in a certain used car offered to br salespersons and introduced to the staff. Joe was very informative and helpful during the whole process of looking at the car, filling out the papers, negotiating a price and explaining the car to us before we left the dealership. More
