Service engine light came on in my 2020 Camry with only 275 miles on it. The Dashboard indicated “AWD System Malfunction, 2WD mode engaged, visit your dealer”. So I brought the car in for service, waited 275 miles on it. The Dashboard indicated “AWD System Malfunction, 2WD mode engaged, visit your dealer”. So I brought the car in for service, waited for almost 2 hours only to find out that it was an evap. code from a loose gas cap, technician cleared the code and it was fine. Now for the best part, my service advisor could not tell me why an evap. Code (loose gas cap) was throwing an AWD malfunction message and as per their policy, if a customer brings their car in with a service engine light on and it is determined to be a loose gas cap the customer will be charged $150, amazing right….. I could not believe what I was hearing, rather than cause a scene, I paid the “Cash Grab” fee. Immediately filed a complaint with corp. Toyota and within the same day I received a call from Westbury Toyota apologizing for the service and refunded me the charge. I will never bring my car to Westbury Toyota service again, unacceptable customer service from both my service advisor Janine Leuthner and whoever the technician was that worked on my car. More
