Mike was friendly, attentive, and a straight shooter. We’re pleased with the deal he crafted and his customer service. Time to enjoy the CR-V we purchased! We’re pleased with the deal he crafted and his customer service. Time to enjoy the CR-V we purchased! More
Sales and Service Suck We bought a new Honda Accord, top of the line, leather interior. Every time we took the car in for maintenance, it came back with grease on the door or the steering wheel or something else. The third time, there was even a small lump of grease on the door inside. Also, just out of sight under the dashboard was a diagram drawn with an ink pen! It appeared to be a diagram of the fuse box or something. I called the service manager about it. He didn't apologize. He didn't offer to have someone clean it. Instead, he told me to go buy this certain cleaner and clean it myself. The car had an annoying squeak. The dealer couldn't fix it ever. After a few years, the transmission started getting stuck in Park, stranding my wife at one store or another. The service department said this could be caused by one of three things. The first would cost $600 to fix, the next would cost $900 to fix, and the third would cost over a thousand. So I had them do the $600 repair which of course did not fix the problem. Then I realized what they did to me. It was a scam. I should have told them to figure out the problem and fix it instead of me choosing one of three possible solutions. So I took the car to Bremerton Auto. Before I even finished explaining the problem, the guy said Hold on, and ran out to the shop, came back with a short piece of a sturdy plastic straw. He showed us how to push down and release the shifter from Park. Then he ordered a replacement piece for around $40. The problem is common, cheap, and simple to fix. In my opinion, the service department stole $600 from me. I bought a used Toyota pickup. The first day we were there, and after selecting the truck, we sat at the salesman's table. I asked the price of the truck. Instead of answering my question, he began "building value" in the truck. I said tell me the price or I'm gone. He said Just a minute, I'll have to ask Mr. Mystery in the Throne Behind the Screen. When he came back, he did not have the price. He started "building value" again, so we stood up and walked to the door. Mr. Mystery Big Shot Too Good To Talk To Commoners came racing out from his hiding throne and met us at the door. I said I'm done playing games. He said the truck would sell for "eight to twelve thousand"!! What kind of price is eight to twelve thousand? We left. I returned the next day and offered seven thousand. The finance office dude was pushing really hard a new program from Toyota wherein you get free oil changes for five years. I asked him how much it costs, and he said it was absolutely free. I tried to reason with him and asked him many times the cost and he insisted repeatedly that there was absolutely no cost to me. After he drew up the contract, I went over each line item. There was a charge for $500. I asked him what that was for. It was for the absolutely free five year oil change program. I took my daughter there to buy a used Honda Accord. After finding a car, I went home and looked up the price on Kelley Blue Book. I printed out the results and took it back to the dealer. I forget what the dealer wanted for it, but it was magically $2,000 more than my daughter was qualified for (Daddy will make up the rest). When I told the salesman it was worth much less than that, he printed out KBB. Again, magically, his printout showed a much higher value than mine did, even higher than KBB's estimate for a car in perfect condition. This car was far from excellent condition. And lots of miles. I figured they must have had a template for putting whatever price they wanted to show on the so-called KBB estimate. You are probably wondering why would I keep going back there. After writing all this out, I don't have an answer except for I guess I'm just stupid. I plan to buy a new car at the of the year, and I will not waste my time at West Hills for sure! More
