Gregg took plenty of time with us, helping us select a car we thought our son would like. We brought our son in to make the final decision. Gregg went over everything again for our son and called us the next morning after our purchase to be sure we were happy with the car and encouraged us to call him if we had any questions. More

This was the worst can buying experience of my life. I will NEVER buy from Wesley Chapel Toyota, ever again, and I highly recommend you don’t either. My salesperson was the ONLY stand up employee of I will NEVER buy from Wesley Chapel Toyota, ever again, and I highly recommend you don’t either. My salesperson was the ONLY stand up employee of this whole experience so I will leave him out of this review. The following is a detailed recap of my horror story: I negotiated the price of a 2020 Sequoia TRD PRO for 2 days (last 2 days of April 2020) over the phone and email. My salesperson and I finally agreed to a price, so I came in on the last day of April. As expected, my numbers changed (in the dealer’s favor) when I arrived, I introduce Frank Wargo, one of the sales managers. Frank was your stereotypical polished, snake oil, used car salesman, who eventually was forced to show his true colors. We will get to that shortly. We negotiated some more and eventually agreed to move forward, both of us having made concessions. After waiting for what seems like half a day, the finance guy takes us to his office. Having told them on the phone that I wanted to show up, sign paperwork and leave, I have now been at the dealer for 3 hours, so our patience was already running low. Next on the list is Waseam Khalaf, the absent minded finance guy. My wife and I caught him making 3 different errors (to the dealers favor of course) with our paperwork. Again, what I had previously negotiated with Frank was apparently not communicated. One error was on the actual price of the vehicle, one error was on the interest rate of the loan and the next error was on the terms of the contract. He also had my address wrong on the title paperwork. Every time I took my time to read the fine print, he would act impatient. When I asked him to show me options for an extended warranty and maintenance (of course I will be going to Clearwater Toyota), he hand wrote upside down and scribbled a bunch of nonsense on the back of a manila envelope. He started spewing information and the information was presented all "fast Eddie" and was extremely confusing. I asked him to show me a brochure or something and said that it did not exist. I told him, that 8 months prior, I had bought a Tundra TRD PRO from Clearwater Toyota and that guy had information I could read on a pamphlet, he then proceeded to say that the people at Clearwater Toyota are liars. Regardless, after a stressful few hours of being on my toes and watching carefully, we signed papers and went to grab our vehicle. SHAME ON ME, for knowing exactly what I wanted, I bought the vehicle sight unseen. When we took possession, we found the window sticker in the vehicle and the list starting price was $1,000 less than what I have been quoted all along. Frank started negotiations at $66,996 but the sticker on the window read $65k and change. You got me frank, you INFLATED the price by $1k. I chalked it up to experience and left. To our surprise, an hour after we got home, I get a call from Frank saying that they made a $500 mistake and I needed to come back (it’s now 7pm) to fix the deal. Frank claimed that they accidentally gave me a military veterans rebate of $500 twice and now they could not “Cash the contract with the bank” because the bank would not accept the deal like it was. At this point we were both civil and I explained that mistakes happen, and he could learn from his like I learned from mine. After some back and forth, the contract comes up. Frank proceeds to get pushier and his polished snake oil starts to go out the window…we go back and forth and neither of us is budging. With dinner on the table and my family ready to eat, I tell him that I will call him back. 10 minutes later I get a call from the finance guy. He is shocked that I was not happy with his performance and after 10 minutes of me explaining how bad he was at his job, he tells me that he can void the contract and come get the vehicle. I politely tell him that I will call him back. I hang up and speed dial my attorney. My attorney reviews the contract and tells me that yes, that is true (and most likely in all car dealers contracts have this clause) but it’s not so simple. I must be served a notice (legally) and then I have 48 hours to return the vehicle. This is in extreme cases where financing can not be secured or something major like that. Remind you it is Thursday night and we are off to the mountains of Georgia at 5am the next day, in our new car. THIS IS WHERE THINGS GET UGLY: it’s now 8:30 or 9pm-ish, Frank calls me back, he is agitated, grasping at anything and desperation oozes through the phone. I politely tell him that he has 2 options: 1- I am happy to sign new paperwork in order to make the deal “legal” so long as my total finance price does NOT change or 2- he can figure something out. But I stood firm on the fact that I would not commit to an extra $500 because he was careless. He started screaming, calling me a theif and asking me how I could sleep at night taking money from the dealership like that. My wife and I listened on speaker in shock, she looks at me says: “we just spent $70k and this dude is treating us like criminals over $500?”. THE STRAW: Frank finally says, “Listen here, I’m going to send 2 agents to pick up MY car out of your driveway right now”. I started laughing and told him the I would gladly wait by MY car in MY driveway with the police, and would be ready to press charges for trespassing and theft when they arrived and I explained the legal part of his contract. He said some choice words and hung up on me. I have told at least 40 people about this and everyone has the same reaction, pure shock. Over $500… I have since reached out to Joe Barba, the GM of the dealership at least 4 times and have never heard back. More
