I had a phenomenal experience with Julio . This was my first purchase of a BMW , every step was flawless . The fact that my sales rep has the same vehicle made everything so much easier. My wife and I conducted exhaustive online research in search of the “right” used vehicle. After looking extensively into probably 200 cars, we settled on a 2015 Lexus RX 350 at Car Vision of Hazle Towns search of the “right” used vehicle. After looking extensively into probably 200 cars, we settled on a 2015 Lexus RX 350 at Car Vision of Hazle Township. The one concern we had going in was why the price was this low ($18:999). The 2015 RX 350 receives constant praise and applause from many reliable sources for its stellar driver reviews and low maintenance issues. So, we decided to check it out by scheduling a test drive. When we arrived at Car Vision that Saturday morning (.6/08/2024), the question we asked of our sales rep was, “Why is this car priced this low?” Based on our research of this year and model, the stated price seemed lower than expected. According to CarGurus, this car was priced at $1,251 below fair market value. We were told that Car Vision’s policy is to factor in discounts to enable a no-haggle pricing. The second question we asked was, “What’s wrong with the car, then?” The answer we received was that “There’s nothing wrong with it. I’ll go get the CarFax report.” He retrieved the report. Indeed, the report covered nine years of flawless maintenance and repairs and successful annual inspections. The car had relatively low miles for nine years old, at 70,798. Then we started our detailed walk-through of the car. After being satisfied that the car presented no obvious or visible issues, we spent forty-five minutes test-driving it in a range of different settings and conditions. It performed as expected — very well. Nothing raised any flags or concerns. We were sold. We picked up the car a week later. On June 21, we had the car given a thorough diagnostic review by a Selinsgrove dealership, convinced they would find nothing but wanting to do our due diligence to make sure. This is where the phrase “caveat emptor” — “let the buyer beware” — applies. Turns out, the car had a damaged right-side drive axle, a $1,500 repair. It also had a bent right-rear wheel, a $1,300 repair. The hood struts were faulty as well. Total after-sale repairs of $3,233. The first two of these three are critical safety issues that should have been found in a PA state inspection. Why they weren’t, we do not know. At any rate, a thorough pre-sale diagnostics and overall review performed by Car Vision would have detected these two issues. These costly repairs should have been performed at the dealership and the price adjusted accordingly.. This would have priced the car more in line with market and eliminated the belief that the dealership knew about these issues but made no effort to fix them, in deference to a quick sell. One further, minor note: their finance person has no sense of humor. He was as stoic as they come. I spent a career in accounting, and I know the demeanor 😀. More
