Mr. Shepherd, My name is Dan Perry, while not the Mayor of Adams, I am the Service Manager at Waite Toyota. We take all accusations of thievery or deception very seriously. After reviewing your service history, I stand by the recommendations made by the service technician who diagnosed your vehicle. We make recommendations based on the specific needs of each vehicle presented and what our expertise suggests would be the best repair. Customers do have an option to not accept the recommendations presented. Depending on how long your vehicle was driven with low coolant, and its age of 10 years and 160,000 miles, could have contributed to the engine issues. We did recommend to start with the replacement of spark plugs and coil packs for the misfire and stuttering concern as a first step. We found no change in the engine performance after replacement. We removed the new parts at our expense. At that time, we determined that the engine was damaged beyond repair. We presented two options for a used engine replacement with a 36-month warranty. You declined the replacement, but it appears the diagnosis was correct since you did get the engine replaced with a third party. It is our sincerest hope that we meet every customers expectation when they bring their vehicle to us. We understand that vehicle repairs can be expensive and work to mitigate each repair while fixing the underlying issues.
