Misdiagnosis The primary problem was my car vibrated/shimmied on the highway. I was told the mechanic inspected and test drove the car, and the cause of the vibrat The primary problem was my car vibrated/shimmied on the highway. I was told the mechanic inspected and test drove the car, and the cause of the vibration was improper wear on the tires caused by the tires being out of alignment. The service rep told me that "despite good tread still on the tires, new tires and an alignment would solve the problem". The 4 tires cost over $800 plus installation and balancing (and the alignment). According to the Bridgestone website, the $800 I was charged for the tires was nearly double the MSRP for these exact tires. Cost aside, the new tires didn't fix the problem. I doubt the mechanic test drove the car after the new tire installation, since as soon as I went on the highway, the vibration remained. Also, after the tires and all work was installed, I was told the state inspection was due in 6 weeks and to bring the car back then for the inspection. I told them to do the state inspection now, and the car passed with flying colors. The real problem was one of the brakes remained engaged at all times. How was this not picked up on the initial test drive/inspection OR during the state inspection? The service rep did not have a clue. No apology for selling me a set of (overpriced) tires when I didn't need them (my old tires had 20-30,000 miles left on them), no apology for the misdiagnosis, he just tried to make ridiculous excuses. Overall, a terrible experience. More
