Volvo XC 40 Buying Experience I recently relocated from the San Jose to Phoenix and had been planning to buy a new car after my arrival last week. I've been a VW guy since 1999 having owned two and leased one. Not interested in their current line up of cars, I began researching other makes and was attracted to the new XC 40. I scoured the internet for reviews and such and felt it was the best car for me. I visited VC of Phoenix and met Shawn. I've been fortunate to always have good car buying experiences with VW, but Shawn, by far, was the best sales representative that has supported my car buying process. He is friendly, engaging, professional and knowledgeable about Volvo cars. He also listens to the customer and provides info that is helpful and relevant. I don't recall there being a question he was n’t prepared to answer. He helped to make my car buying experience, engaging and actually fun. Honestly, I walked in for the test drive. I knew I was going to buy soon, but I wasn't planning to buy that day. As it turns out the XC 40s just fly off the lot in AZ; they can't keep then on the lots, so jumped in because they had what I wanted. Additionally, Daniel, the finance representative was equally engaged and professional for his portion of the sales process. He made the financing discussion easy and understandable. Both Shawn and Daniel were super easy to work. Lastly, the General Manager, EJ Schneider personally thanked me for joining the Volvo family at the end of the process. GM's don't have to do that – engage buyers at the end of the sale, but it was a nice practice. I felt welcomed, respected and valued the entire time I was there. It was another warm welcome to the Valley of the Sun! I would heartily recommend Volvo Cars of Phoenix. I had a wonderful experience there. More

Dishonest Service at Volvo Cars of Phoenix I took my Volvo XC90 in for service at the Volvo Cars of Phoenix. Mark, the service manager, stated that they had patched a nail in my tire and rotat I took my Volvo XC90 in for service at the Volvo Cars of Phoenix. Mark, the service manager, stated that they had patched a nail in my tire and rotated the tires when he called to say the vehicle was ready. They were also waiting on a part to fix a signal that was not working, but asked if they could address that the next day when the part arrived which was acceptable to me. I drove the car home. The next morning, my tire was completely flat. The car was taken to Discount Tire where they informed me that the tires were never rotated and a patch was never completed. I called Mark immediately and he said that they were planning on doing the tire work when the part for the signal arrived. I was very unhappy and told him that he wasn't honest with me and I signed the day before that they had completed a patch and rotated the tires. He told me directly to my face that they had completed the patch and rotation. When the other piece arrived, they addressed the signal and he told me that they did patch and rotate the tires. 2 months later, that same tire had issues. Once again I took it to Discount Tire. Volvo of Phoenix NEVER patched the tire. They did a "plug", which ultimately destroyed the interior of the tire. Discount informed me how dangerous it was to be driving on a plug and it was not an acceptable practice to do this. We were so upset by this because we had been driving our children in this car on this tire even for out of state trips. We no longer trusted Volvo of Phoenix. We ended up having to get 4 totally different tires, because the the car's current tires were on a 3 month back order. We couldn't order just 1 or 2 tires to replace the bad one. We did go back to Mark at Volvo Cars of Phoenix and after a significant amount of time spent discussing this matter, they refunded us for 1 tire. At the same initial visit, Mark informed me that the brakes had issues. I inquired about this several times, because I felt that those issues should be under warranty. Mark told me right to my face that it was not covered under warranty. After the dishonesty with the tires, we took it to an independent service station, where we take our work vehicles. The brake pads were not in need of repair at that time. 2 months later, I took it back because the brakes have always "squeaked" since we purchased it. Our mechanic used Volvo brake pads and replaced them along with the rotors. Just this week my service light came on and said that my "Start/ Stop" function needed service. This time I called the Volvo of Scottsdale. I was informed that all of the brake work should have been under warranty and they addressed everything in my car. They were pleasant, honest and kept me informed throughout the entire process. I have filed a complaint with Volvo Customer Care USA, but want people to be cautious of using Volvo Cars of Phoenix. I would never recommend them. More
