Both of them were very knowledgeable and shared with me advantages over the competition. I called my insurance agent and the insurance was less for the Jetta then it was the civic. The deale This was hands down the worst experience I have had ever dealing with my car in my life. In December, my check engine light came on. The dealership I normally deal with was 40 miles away and from what I read online, I should get it to the closest dealership. VW of Marietta is the closest one to my house. I bring the car up there. They took my car in and when the service staff typed in my VIN number, I could see the screen of the computer, and immediately Extended Warranty Information popped up on the screen. I inquired about if the check engine light would be covered by the Extended TDI Warranty. The tech assured me it would not be covered because I was over the Mileage and this wasn’t part of the TDI extended warranty. They said they would take a look at the problems and get back to me. I also inquired about a loaner car, which I was told they didn't do loaner cars. A few days later not hearing anything I decided to call, when I called I was told the problems with my car. The check engine light had been diagnosed, I also needed a 120k maintenance that I was going to have done at the same time. The Service Staff member told me that there was another thing that was bad on my car and that to fix it would be another 700+ dollars.. When I questioned it, he offered to go back and talk to the Service Technician. He called me back and told me that the Piece that was "Bad" wasn't bad but because they were gonna be so close to that piece that the technician suggested that maybe I should change it out to the tune of 700+ dollars. So changing out a piece, because it is convenient.. not because it is necessary. I am glad I inquired. He pushed a little bit to have it done but I said if it isn’t broken I didn’t want to pay the extra $700+ I approved the repairs that needed to be done and was not looking forward to paying the almost 3k dollar bill. A few days later, I decided to call to find out what is going on with my car because I had not heard anything from them. The car was promised back to me on Wednesday or Thursday and I was heading out of town on Friday. When I called, I was told that they ordered the wrong part and they were very sorry and that they had a loaner car for me (wow I was told they didn't do loaner cars earlier). I hopped in a Lyft and I went up to the dealership to pick up the loaner car. When I got there, I was introduced to the service Manager, He apologized for the inconvenience and I was promised my car would be ready Friday Morning so I could go out of town. My car was ready when promised the second time and I was apologized to yet again when I picked it up. He also informed me that They didn’t have time to wash my car (which I totally understand is a convienience and they don’t need to do, and that I could bring it back up later to have it washed.. Not a big deal but since he mentioned it .. just another detail yet not a big deal) I was already upset about this whole situation. I really don't like being lied to, and told to do repairs that didn't need to be done. I swore that I would never go back to this place... Fast forward to last week... Guess what.. My check engine light came on again. just a little over a month after the repair. I decided this time to make it up to the dealership I always go to. They took me in right away, and The serviceman immediately hooked up the OBD computer and found out what was wrong. I inquired if the code that was being shown was anyway related to the service I just had. I had told him about the horrible experience I had and that If it was related I wanted them to fix it. He looked at the paperwork from VW of Marietta, he said the repair didn't have anything to do but that the work that they did for the check engine light was covered under the TDI extended warranty and they should have never charged me. I was again angry. I asked what I should do and he gave me the paperwork to bring back to VW of Marietta, and they took care of my car. I walked in to VW of Marietta, and asked to speak to the Service Manager, I was told that he wasn't there, but they wanted to know what If they could help. I start to explain that they charged me for a warranty repair. As I am telling the story, guess who magically shows up... The service manager. The story is told again, he explains that the service tech must not have known that my car was a TDI.. and that is why I didn't get it covered under warranty.. (When I called initially, I told them what I had. I asked about the warranty when I dropped the car off. They had my car, how do you not know that my car is a Diesel when I watched when he typed in the VIN number and the warranty information popped up I saw it say TDI Warranty Extension.) The service manager said I should have talked to the service tech that deals with TDI’s not the person I talked to (How was I supposed to know, and when I called and told them about my car, shouldn’t they have transferred me to the right person) He apologized to me again and said he would make it right, that the person who signs the check wasn’t in today but he would get me a check the following day (Friday) . The next day, by around 3 o’clock I still hadn’t heard from him so I decided to call to follow up. He said he was still working on it and he had a lot of paperwork to deal with and he would get it taken care of. He said he would call me in a few.. He never did. Saturday afternoon rolls around, by this time I am more than a little bit perturbed. I decide to follow up again. I call and ask to speak to the elusive Service Manager, I am asked what this pertains to and I tell the story. I am told that he has left for the day. The sales rep on the phone gives me the option to talk to the General Manager which I agree to and tell him the whole story. He apologises and offers to go talk to the Service Manager because this is the first time of him hearing about this.. I tell him that I was told the Service Manager had left for the day.. I tell him that I was told that he left for the day. I am angry at this point.. He asks if he can call me back which I agree to and when he calls me back he says he has my check ready. I drive up to the dealership and walk in asking to speak to the General Manager. The recptionist asks who I am and I give my name and she asks if I am here for my check which I say I am, She hands me the check and asks if I need anything else. I said no, take the check and start to walk out and just wanted to say thanks to the General Manager for taking car of this. I walk back in, and a sales person comes up to me and asks me if i need help and I said I wanted to talk to the GM to say thanks. They get him for me and I say my thanks and leave. I have worked in Sales before and in Management before and If there had ever been an issue like this I would have made an effort to hand the check over in person and ask if there is anything I could do to make this situation right.. That didn’t happen in this instance, and I don’t think I would ever step back into this dealership again. More
