Disappointment We brought our car in because the A/C was not cooling, and it was almost due for an oil change. It took a week for techs to figure out why A/C was not We brought our car in because the A/C was not cooling, and it was almost due for an oil change. It took a week for techs to figure out why A/C was not working (low freon). Despite being a regular, long time customer for the last 10 years and having all scheduled maintenance and repairs done at VW of Gainesville, we were told that our 2003 car needed $8700 of repairs. We cannot understand how this much work would be needed all of a sudden, on a well-maintained and lightly-driven car. Why weren't we told that these repairs were needed at our last service check-up a few months ago? We feel like we were either misled last time (being told that the car was in good shape/no work needed) or we are being misled now with work that is truly not needed. Staff were not attentive and did not provide timely status updates. Costs ballooned as different techs seemed to find new things every time they looked at the car. There was little follow-up even after contacting mgmt by email with concerns. During the two weeks that we were waiting for our car, three different salespeople called us to ask us about buying a new car. One said we'd need to bring our car in for it to be assessed, even though you already had it in for service. We were offended by these repeated sales calls, while we were being asked to pay for $8700 in repairs to a car valued at $1000 or less. We are sorry to say that our confidence and trust in your team has been lost. We will not be back to VW of Gainesville for service, and we will not buy a new VW in the foreseeable future. We will recommend that our friends and family shop elsewhere as well. More
