On Sunday, July 7, 2024, Joel Za from Volkswagen Southtowne contacted me via Facebook Messanger regarding a car I have listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He expressed interest on behalf of the Southtowne contacted me via Facebook Messanger regarding a car I have listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. He expressed interest on behalf of the dealership, mentioning they were seeking new additions to their used car inventory. Despite my clear disinterest in working with a dealership, due to my asking price being above wholesale or trade-in value, Joel Za persisted in contacting me. In response, I firmly stated, "Unless you're offering my asking price, please do not message me." Rather than respecting my decision to decline further communication, Joel Za proceeded to engage in harassing behavior. Despite my repeated requests for him to stop messaging me, he continued with highly unprofessional conduct. He derogatorily referred to me as a "fruity xxx dude," mocked the car I was selling ("Says the dude driving a Honda Accord Hybrid"), and even made disparaging comments about my appearance based on my profile picture, remarking, "You're smaller than that Bronco, 5'7 xxx dude." While I acknowledge that my own responses may not have been entirely professional, nothing I said or did justified Joel Za's unwarranted and offensive verbal harassment. When someone clearly expresses a desire to end communication, it should be respected without question. I caution others to steer clear of Volkswagen Southtowne, as they employ individuals like Joel Za who exhibit a lack of self-control and a propensity to demean others for no justifiable reason. More
