Traded my 2018 Lexus IS300 in for a truck today. I had negative equatiy on the vehicle (owed 38,000, trade in 29,000).VW Southtowne said they were going to help me reduce that negative equity and go I had negative equatiy on the vehicle (owed 38,000, trade in 29,000).VW Southtowne said they were going to help me reduce that negative equity and got me into an older truck(2012 Ford f150 platinum) than my car and said that the money wouldn't roll over. But it did. I had the Lexus paid off to 38,000$ with a base trade in value of 29,000$. They wanted 24,569$ for the truck. Total for the truck with them paying off my negative equity and trade value equaled 37,000$ for the 2012 f150 and my downpayment of 2,000$, 35000$ with down payment. Now I am still in a large amount of negative equity(the trucks trade in value is roughly 18,000$ dollars) and they didnt listen to my needs. They also didn't even look at my trade in, they just asked if it had both keys(which it does). Then they just offered me the lowest price of 28,000 trade in (and sadly enough CarMax offered me 29,500) even though it had brand new paint, tires, and was detailed. And so when I went to pick up the truck and give them my car I texted them to let them know I was on my way and they answered back saying "great". I got there 25 minutes after the text was sent and the truck wasn't cleaned at all, so I had to wait 35 minutes more for a detail. On top of that the truck only had 1 key, rust on the back/front bumper, and rust on the driver side door quarter panel. I drove it home to show my father who said it smells like someone smoked in it. Due to having covid my sense of smell has been bad, so great the truck smelled now too. I then tried to play with the automatic running boards on the truck and to my surprise they did not work. I called the dealer back because I only had the vehicle for an hour. They Apologized and said it is common on Fords to have faulty running boards and they can not fix it because it would be too expensive and that I should have negotiated that into the sales price, but as of now all sales prices are final. I was upset but a truck fitted my needs better than my midsize sedan. To fix the truck will equal around 5,000$ more (rust, motor for running boards, smoke). So I kind of just bought a used truck with 115,000 miles that needs work for 42,000 dollars and in reality it is worth 18,000 or so. Thanks for all the great help guys..... UPDATE: So I got the truck on less than a quarter of a tank and had to fill it up costing around 100$. I drove it for 2 days and even bought some new parts. Then I get a call from the dealership. They said the paint on my car was not a 9/10 like they originally thought, and that it was a 3/10 and would no longer take my vehicle as trade unless I paid another 5,000$. I went down to the dealership with the truck right away and saw some of the paint smear from the new clear coat on the lexus. I agreed to take back my car and made arrangements for the blemishes to be fixed. The day I went to trade the truck back for my car they gave me 1,500 dollars in a check because I paid them extra down in cash after my 2,000 down payment. The down payment was made in debit card and they said it would take 3-5 business days. 7 business days passed and no luck seeing money on my account, so I called for 2 days straight. They would say they would call me back and would not direct me to a manager only my sales agent Nico who was not worried about the problem. I was also worried that the bank they had me go through still said I owed them for the truck(they didnt even call the bank the truck was financed under) thanks to the finance manager Axel. I went down in person after they didn't return my calls or help me over the phone on 04-12-22 and finally a manager Zac came and helped solved the issue. Now I am waiting for 2,000$ that should arrive in 2 weeks according to the manager Zac who after dealing with me rudily walked off when I extended a handshake to him to thank him for helping. I took video and recorded all of my conversations with them, plan on posting my experience to youtube and social platforms with that evidence! EN FIN- DONT GO HERE, WARNING TO THOSE WHO ENTER!!!!
