I had it towed to this dealer and only authorized a diagnostic of the engine failure. Nathan the service mgr handled my car and said they were busy that day and wouldn't get it looked at till the next day. No phone call, so I called back them back on Wed & they confirmed the engine failed and they have to figure out if it's the gas engine or electric engine & he would let me know as they find out what's going on. He said the worse case scenario to fix the gas engine would be $5K tops, electric $7K. No phone call update, so I called back on Friday to find they needed a tool to separate the engines to figure out which engine it was and the took was on order & he'll call me back Monday or Tuesday. Never called. I called on Wednesday to find out Nathan was off and the other guy had no idea the status of my car and he'd get back to me. No call all week. The following Monday (4/23/2018... 2 weeks later from when I had my car towed there... and no loaner car, nothing, no updates), I left a message for Nathan a little upset that he did not call me last week. He called back saying it was the electric engine and it was going to cost $3200 for the labor dissembling the car to figure out it was the electric engine and another $7K for the parts, totaling $10,000. (We owe $9,000 on the car & KBB value is less than $4,000.) I went off on Nathan. I told him how ridiculous that was & I wasn't paying his only Hybrid mechanic to shop for tools (when they should be equipped with that) and learn as he goes because they don't know what they heck they're doing. (The car is a 2013, so it's been around long enough for them to be equipped and trained on them.) I have a 2000 Toyota 4-Runner that has 345,000 miles and it's still running. This Jetta is only 4 years old with 129,000 miles and it crapped out all ready. The warranty expired at 120,000 for the electric and 60,000 miles for the gas. I told him the car was like cell phones that die the day after the warranty is up. I talked to another automotive place that service my Mazda van and they said they're totally ripping me off. Who gives a blank check to a car place to figure out what the problem is??? I told him this is not a Mercedes that shouldn't cost that much. He used the excuse it's a German car, so I told him it should be better and not crap out this early. No one, not even a Mercedes owner would pay that amount to figure out what's wrong. $3200 should be the cost of it fixed, parts and all, not for them to tell me what I already know!!! DO NOT BUY a VW or have your car serviced here!!! I've never had a positive experience here or with VW. They never have enough mechanics and they don't know what they're doing! For Nathan to be the service manager and give such poor service and not communicate to me when he said he would nor inform me of such astronomical charges, when diagnostic charges are typically $150 or so, not $3200!!! DO NOT come here to buy or get serviced!!! More
