I had found a car at a different VW dealership, but it wasn't the color I really wanted. So, I called Prime to see if they had what I was looking for in stock. They informed me that they could get those cars AND that they would beat any deal I had already negotiated. Sure enough, they beat the deal and got me the car I wanted. Bonnie was exactly what we were looking for in a sales person. Not your typical pushy car sales person who doesn't listen to the customer and only trying to make a sale. This will be one of the main factors for returning in the future to purchase another Volkswagen. Not to mention the dealership goes the extra mile to give great service, warranty and price. We had previously bought two new VW's at the Portland area's other dealer, but we have always much preferred the service department at Prime (earlier Claire). Both of those 5-speed Passats (a 1999 and a area's other dealer, but we have always much preferred the service department at Prime (earlier Claire). Both of those 5-speed Passats (a 1999 and a 2003) were excellent, delightful cars--very German in all the right ways. This time it was Prime that happened to have the car we wanted: a 6-speed manual 2010 Tiguan S which I had earlier spied in Morong's inventory. When I noticed online that it had been swapped to Prime, I decided to look seriously into buying it. Because I had liked Steve Wilson's easy ways as a salesman when I'd driven a couple of other new vehicles during a routine service visit a few years ago (just to see what might be the right car for us next time), I purposely sought him out late last Friday for a ride in the Tiguan. Once again he was a perfectly enjoyable sales person to deal with--no high pressure, just a good salesman's "appropriateness" of pressure. What more or less clinched the sale (if not yet the deal) was Steve's (and his manager's) willingness to let me take the car home overnight so that my wife could get a sense of it on her own territory. Naturally she loved it. Then, the next day, it did not take much discussion to bring the deal, including trade of our 2003 Passat, into line with what I had calculated in advance to be fair for both sides. (Frankly, I have never been one to expect a car dealer to let a car go without making a decent profit on it--when I like a dealer I want it to stay in business!) Not only Steve, but also Derek Ricker and Scott Desrosiers deserve high praise for making the whole affair not only painless but actually lots of fun. We did our part too, though, by being easy customers! We especially enjoyed Derek's "manic" sense of humor and Scott's very likable way with us in carrying out the nuts and bolts of the sale. For his precise penmanship alone, Scott should get some kind of award! It really was a pleasure to deal with such a smart bunch. The atmosphere at this dealership is always great: open, bright, upbeat, and refreshingly informal--pretty much a model of what a car dealership should be, both for service and for sales. After searching other dealers in ME,NH, and MA to find a car to replace my Jeep after engine failure, I decided to go to Prime to look at a 2009 VW Jetta. Sadly that one was sold but was able with the help car to replace my Jeep after engine failure, I decided to go to Prime to look at a 2009 VW Jetta. Sadly that one was sold but was able with the help of Scott and Derek to purchse an even better 2008 Jetta. The negotiating was painless and the staff was friendly and exceeded my every expectation. They followed me home with my new car as I had borrowed a car to get there and had not planned to pick it up until later that day. I have given nothing but excellent reviews to anyone I know who has talked about getting a new car. I plan on going to them again in a few months when my girlfriend gets a new car. More
