Service Advisor wasn't particularly knowledgeable or invested in saving costs. Repair options offered ignored recently replaced parts (not at dealer). Minimal effort was put into the diagnostic effor invested in saving costs. Repair options offered ignored recently replaced parts (not at dealer). Minimal effort was put into the diagnostic effort it seems. I have a high-mileage vehicle and am diligent with performing repairs, most of them are carried out at the dealership. However I have to pay attention to avoid duplication of repairs, or expensive repairs-as-diagnosis propositions. The Service Advisor didn't convince me they had the solution to my recurrent CEL issue (low fuel pressure code), which I already spent about $6,000 at another VW dealership in 2 separate occasions in February and March (detailed invoices were provided). I was bluntly offered to replace the low-pressure in-tank fuel pump (replaced in 2013) and control module (replaced in Nov. 2020). Possibly the fuel pump needs to be replaced, and I will perform that repair myself. The control module is brand new, so replacing it -even if it were under dealership warranty- would sound wasteful at best. Just swapping parts until the problem goes away really is not how to carry out a diagnostic. More
