WORST CAR BUYING EXPERIENCE EVER! Run from this dealership! Can not believe how bad our experience was. We were looking for a specific make and model used car. We found one at Vic K Run from this dealership! Can not believe how bad our experience was. We were looking for a specific make and model used car. We found one at Vic Koening. We live in St. Louis about 2 hours away. Made the trip, loved the car and decided to purchase. They did not come down from the advertised price. We had a trade in of an older car, which we new wouldn't be much. Matt said he could probably get it close to $1000. Came back after working the numbers and had the car for the list price and $500 for the trade in. After talking a bit he finally came back with the car being the same price, trade in $650 and then all the fees, etc for a final price. We agreeded to purchase. We then discussed financing through them or through our own bank. Matt gave us an approximate rate. Again discussed whether to go with them or our bank. Filled out the paper work to see what the actual payments would be. We have excellent credit, so we were very surprised that the rate came back even higher at 5.74%. Told Matt that seemed high and we would check around. He asked if he could get the payments lower by moving the numbers around would we buy it right then with their financing. We said probably, let's see what you can do. He came back and said he couldn't do anything. But he would call around in the morning and see what he could find. We said we would check as well, as it was evening and after hours. We agreed to purchase the car. He said he would move it to he back with a sold sign and we gave him a check for the down payment. We said we would come back over with the trade in. We were not in a hurry, giving them plenty of time to get the car ready. Matt was off the next day but it was the 31st so he wanted it in Oct. sales. We agreed to come the next evening to help him out. My husband called our hometown bank in the morning which is 4 hours from Carbondale. They gave him a rate of 4.5%. We texted Matt to get the final purchase price for our bank, and asked for the wire transfer info. He sent a text indicated he was off that day (31st) and we could do it the next day, or Brian would handle the paperwork for him. Then in a phone conversation with Brian we are told that the price was contingent on us using their financing. Again we were paying the advertised price, and their "contingency" was never mentioned. After going around and around with Brian saying that was not the case, we got to speak with the supposed sales manager Buddy Baker, if that is his real name, he is not listed on any of the sites. Buddy finally agreed but told us that they don't except wire transfers and that we had to bring a cashier check by close that day. Now, it is 3pm and they close at 7. He knew that our bank was 4 hours from the dealership, and it would take us 2 hours to get to the bank from our home. No one ever said that the sale had to be closed on the 31st. We were doing that only to help Matt out. We even discussed picking it up 3 days later, plus we had the text from the salesman stating the next day was fine. We told Buddy we would be in the next day with the check. At 7:08 we received a message from Brian that since we did not come in by 7, the car was sold to someone else. Again we put down the deposit last night so it was already sold to us. So you decide is this where you want to do business? We would never recommend Vic Koenig Chevrolet!! More

New Vehicle Purchase Lynn was my sales person, and he did such amazing job during the process. While the service department was detailing the car, Lynn took me around and introduced me to each department when I need to get service done. And Sean was absolutely spectacular to work with. Lynn and Sean are the two my helpful and polite people to work with. Lynn and Sean had went above and beyond to make sure all my expectations were met during the purchase and treated me with courteous and respect. I have to say that I’ve purchased here about 9 years ago and it was “ok” experience, between then and now the whole sales process did a complete 360 and professionalism and respect.
