Horrible service department. Wouldn’t warranty my 2020 Tahoe because it has oversized tires and a mild lift. Jimmy/Jeremy the service manager said he wouldn’t warranty anything on our Tahoe...period. It Tahoe because it has oversized tires and a mild lift. Jimmy/Jeremy the service manager said he wouldn’t warranty anything on our Tahoe...period. It only has 9000 miles and it was only a broken wire in the open fender well. Here is the story: In 2020 I bought a new Chevrolet Tahoe from a dealer in central illinois because they had the exact vehicle my wife wanted. My wife is 6’ tall and has always wanted a lifted vehicle. I took her brand new vehicle to a local (very professional) off road shop and had a mild lift installed. It only has 33” tires on it, nothing extreme. Fast forward—-we went on a road trip to Alabama last week and the abs light came on while on the interstate. My wife and I live in carbondale and have bought a new Camaro at Vic Koenig a few years ago so I recommended she take it there to have it fixed. My wife arrives and the guy helping her was flagged over by the service manager to inform him that anything wrong with ANYTHING on her vehicle would NOT be covered at all. They had not even determined what was wrong yet. When they found the problem they called me. It was the wire that runs through the open fender well had broken. No damage, just broke. Likely had a rock or something hit it. I was told on the phone that my repairs would be almost $300.00. Mind you this is a 2020 Tahoe with 9000 miles. I asked why I was being charged and was again told they would not cover any drivetrain components due to the lift. I asked to speak with a service manager because I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. I have bought new vehicles my whole life and have had numerous lifted vehicles done by the same shop. I currently drive a new Ford F-250 that’s lifted and have never had any warranty issues. Most dealerships put lifts on their vehicles to make them appealing anyway, but don’t do it as a consumer! Now I am connected to “Jimmy” the service manager. Jimmy was super rude from the moment he picked up the phone. I tried to reason with Jimmy in every way and he very rudely would continue to tell me point blank, I won’t cover any drivetrain parts on your vehicle due to the lift. Jimmy could not clarify with me what all was and was not covered because he had no idea and just wanted to generalize. He just continued to tell me they stretched the wire installing the lift and that’s why they wouldn’t warranty it. I tried and tried to tell him the lift was installed the day it rolled off the lot and the wire was not stretched. I had already found the broken wire and inspected it prior to even taking it to the shop so the stretched theory is a sham.... Jimmy and I had a most unpleasant conversation that ended badly for both of us. Me because I am having to write reviews so others don’t go to the same bad service department, and Jimmy because I will tell every person I come in contact with about my experience with Vic Koenig and Jimmy. I grew up in this area and know the Koenig family somewhat. I can assure you that I will make sure they know what kind of bad day I had trying to deal with their business. Jimmy continued to tell me to take my vehicle back to whom I purchased it from. I strongly feel Jimmy did not want to help me at all since my vehicle was not purchased from them... $300 of warranty work and everyone would have walked away happy. $0 dollars warrantied on a new vehicle equals this guy singing to everyone about what happened.
