It is no wonder Carter Chevrolet has been in business as long as they have. Craig Fournier listened to what I was looking for, honored my request not to haggle or try to upsell. At the time of delivery he explained the features of my truck in great detail. (At one point I thought, "enough already", but I am glad he was so thorough. It kept me from having to read the manual) Lou Martin helped me greatly with very good advice. He actually told me to wait a few days and try to remove something from my credit report. This was my first visit to Carter. I very much liked the old-fashioned, hometown feel to this dealership (being right in downtown Manchester, like all the dealerships used to be before they moved out into t old-fashioned, hometown feel to this dealership (being right in downtown Manchester, like all the dealerships used to be before they moved out into the asphalt jungles of the 'burbs). I made 3 separate visits in all, and each time I was greeted like a long-time customer by everyone, especially at the receptionist desk at the front door; a real 'family' atmosphere. Low pressure (really no pressure) to buy and a very knowledgeable salesman. I truly appreciated that he knew more about the car than I did; usually, in other dealerships, it is the other way around. All the paperwork was handled professionally and promptly, and away we went with a great economy car (Cruze), which my wife and daughter (this was her first car) really like, even more than the brand new Subaru she was driving (mine) before getting the Cruze. And I have to agree that the Cruze is a great American choice if you are shopping for this class of car. Bottom line? I went to Carter looking for a 3/4 ton pickup to pull my 26' travel trailer. I will admit that I don't particularly enjoy the process of trading in a vehicle and purchasing a new one, based on past experie 26' travel trailer. I will admit that I don't particularly enjoy the process of trading in a vehicle and purchasing a new one, based on past experiences of pushy salesman, unreasonable trade in values, etc. After dealing with Andrew Repay in sales and Lou Martin in financing, I can say with all honesty that all call dealers are not the same. Andrew made the purchasing of my truck a pleasurable experience. His professionalism as a salesman was outstanding. He answered all of my questions, was genuinely accomodating to my needs, and at the end of the sales process even assisted me with the selection of additonal accessories I wanted to add to the vehicle. He is by far the best salesman I have ever dealt with. In financing, Lou Martin exibited the same professionalism, sharing his advise and experience, particulary with extended warranties. I recently had my transmission replaced in Pennsylvania on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. On Thursday, 5/23/13 I was on my way to Cape Cod for vacation from the suburbs of Philadelphia when my transmission be on my 2004 Chevy Trailblazer. On Thursday, 5/23/13 I was on my way to Cape Cod for vacation from the suburbs of Philadelphia when my transmission began to fail. I contacted Carter Chevrolet as it was close by to Rte 84 where I'd been traveling and experiencing problems with my SUV. I spoke with Ray Maher who told me to bring it in and they would do their best to take care of it and find out what was going on with my vehicle. Ray was extremely friendly and courteous upon my arrival and quickly went to work securing a rental car for me which was a challenging task as the supply was low due to the holiday weekend and I needed a vehicle comparable in size to my Trailblazer as I had a passenger with me and I was transporting a bike and lots of food, clothing, supplies, etc. for a vacation. While Ray worked on getting me a rental car, John Machado took my information to get the vehicle in the queue to be checked out. John was also very friendly and courteous. The vehicle was expected to be completely repaired on Tuesday, 5/28 and since it was a holiday weekend and parts needed to be ordered, there was a slight delay and so I drove to Carter Chevrolet on Wednesday, 5/29. There was so much work to be done on the transmission and since I had just had it replaced 3 weeks earlier, it made more sense to totally replace it again rather than tearing it apart to replace more parts. I then drove home to Pennsylvania in a rental car which Carter Chevrolet arranged for me. They even accommodated me driving back up to Connecticut on Sunday, 6/2 to exchange the rental car for my vehicle even though they were closed on Sundays. During the entire process, John was in communication with me about the status of the repair and kept me updated. It was an extreme pleasure to deal with him and the staff at Carter Chevrolet especially since we were able to work everything out so that I could still take my vacation, my vehicle was under expert care, and I was still with transportation. I highly recommend Carter Chevrolet to anyone who needs service as it will be a great experience! More
