WARNING – DO NOT PATRONIZE THE VENTURA TOYOTA SERVICE DEPT! Our 2016 Toyota Sequoia was recently vandalized in downtown Ventura by someone trying to break and enter. The would -be thief tried to jimmy the driv Our 2016 Toyota Sequoia was recently vandalized in downtown Ventura by someone trying to break and enter. The would -be thief tried to jimmy the driver-side lock, which set-off the car alarm. The dirt bag then reached under the engine compartment and ripped out wiring in the vicinity of the horn. We took the vehicle to Ventura Toyota to get a repair estimate. The estimate was $8,200 to remove/replace the lock cylinder and entire wiring harness, which runs throughout the engine compartment and behind the dashboard. This estimate didn’t pass the sanity test with us or our insurance adjuster. We decided to find a different Toyota service provider that could give us a reasonable approach to fix the compromised wiring and lock. Ventura Toyota charged $335 for diagnostics before they would release the vehicle. That’s a hefty price to visually identify a damaged wiring bundle near the horn and confirm that the key could not be inserted into the driver-side lock. We had the Sequoia towed to North Hollywood Toyota. Our friends down south took three days to repair the vehicle at a cost of $552. For those of you who are good with math, Ventura Toyota’s diagnostic fee of $335 plus an additional $117 equals $552, the cost to repair the vehicle. Ventura Toyota had a lot of audacity to pad their estimate by over $7,600 for unnecessary parts and labor. That’s about as a ridiculous as replacing all four tires and getting a new alignment should one of the tires have had low air pressure. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. P.S. North Hollywood gets a 5 star rating. The home town dealership gets 0 stars and a frown face. ? More

Excellent Service I brought my car in for inspection/repair and had excellent customer service from Carlo. I had two issues, an odor when using the AC and abnormal nois I brought my car in for inspection/repair and had excellent customer service from Carlo. I had two issues, an odor when using the AC and abnormal noise/binding when shifting. Carlo educated me on certain aspects of using the cooling system to eliminate odors and took the car in for inspection of the shifter. The technician determined the shift assembly had failed, the part was ordered, and I was called when the part arrived. Carlo was not available when I brought the car in for repair so another service representative assisted me, Jennifer. She had reviewed the record that Carlo had generated prior to my arrival so was prepared. Jen provided excellent service; the repair was completed and my car is performing much better. Jen assisted me with a second issue regarding a question I had about an HVAC filter for my car. She went the extra mile to consult the service manager, Kevin, who was excellent in handling this problem. Thanks to Carlo, Jen, Kevin, and service technician Michael, for a five star customer experience in the service department. More

My most recent visit to Kevin was to bring my elderly mother and her Toyota Avalon in. She had parked her vehicle in a parking lot at a grocery store and was gone from the car for approx. 1.5 hours. Upon her return, it was obvious another driver had scraped her right rear quarter panel while parking or backing out of the parking stall to her right. And, of course, no note was left by the person who did it. Since my father passed away six years ago, I have been handling all my mom's finances and fixing issues as they come up. My mother and I have always felt comfortable with Kevin and in the event my schedule doesn't coordinate to take care of Toyota-related issues, I trust him with my mom implicitly. This entire event was stressful to my mom, but Kevin made it so much more convenient by handling the coordination between the dealership and the auto body repair, as well as renting my mother a rental car from Toyota. This was a relief to both my mom and I, as I had an extremely busy week and was going to be in jury duty on the date the Avalon would be ready for pickup from your dealership. Because of all this, I didn't know whether I would be able to make it to the dealership in time, which was causing my mom some stress. It turned that I did make it, and the return of my mom's rental and pick-up of her repaired vehicle transitioned smoothly since Kevin had done all the ground work and overall coordination. Today for example: I brought in my aging vehicle for an oil change. I was assisted by Raphael for the hassle-free transaction. Having a bit of time, I test drove the 2018 Rav4 Hybrid with Daniel, and we chatted and had an enjoyable time. When I told him about the kitchen remodel we were in the middle of, he completely understood that it would be a little crazy to buy a new car today. I then went across the way to the Crown dealership and looked at Jeeps. While jeeps are great- that place is super sleazy. The sales person who came out and spoke to me was the old school sleazy car salesman with his condescending manner and disparaging low ball remarks about my current vehicle. Their strategy there seems to be to make the customer feel like a dirtbag driving a pile of garbage. Not really sure how that might work for them, but as I was leaving to go back to toyota the guy was actually shouting to me as I crossed the street trying to sell me pretty much anything... So if you've been with Toyota for awhile, you might forget that these analog experiences happen at other dealerships. Toyota of Ventura is our happy place; whether buying the Toyota brand or a used offering of a different make. They treat you like friends and family. More
