The representative I dealt with, Octavio, was unbelievably rude and highly suspicious. I tried to ascertain what, if any, inspections are performed on non-certified used vehicles on the lot. Octavio became irritated and defensive, then proudly alluded to the "many lawsuits" filed against the dealership over non-certified used vehicles that developed problems shortly after purchase, and that Ventura Toyota managed to defeat many of them. Octavio came off as a bully and a thug. My suspicion is this dealership is up to highly unethical activity with regard to non-certified used vehicles on the lot, and the reviews on other sites for this dealership are consistent with that suspicion. I was unfortunate to have my Transmission go out,on the road, but was lucky that Ventura Toyota was off the FWY. I was from out of town and had to leave my car in Ventura. Although it took 2 weeks to have road, but was lucky that Ventura Toyota was off the FWY. I was from out of town and had to leave my car in Ventura. Although it took 2 weeks to have my transmission rebuilt and a lot or phone calls, I was overall very satisfied with the customer service and Kevin Hurlie's help. Now that I am back home, I find that in my own town, the customer service @ Toyota is horrible!!! Kinda wish I was closer to Ventura!! Thank you Ventura Toyota for taking care of the problem and taking care of me, when I needed a car for the 2 weeks, mine was out of service. More
I went to this dealership to look at a Prius, after having researched the car at another dealership. What a comparison! At this dealership, the sales people are not only pushy, but sleezy. From the salesperson suggesting if I were to purchase a car to register it to someone from Ventura in order to save money on taxes, to the salesperson calling Santa Barbara "uppity and snobby", to the dealership sending in a "closer" when the salesperson had hit a wall when trying to haggle price, my experience was dismal at best. When I made an offer on a car, quoting the exact price the salesman (Johnny) offered me within the week at the dealership, I was told by Jake that (i) he didn't think the dealership would accept the offer, (ii) that the salesperson has no authority to agree to any offer, and (iii) that he would present my offer to someone who could approve it. He never called me back to let me know if my offer was accepted. A few days later, the salesperson called me to ask if I am still interested in a Prius. Needless to say, I bought my car at the dealership in Santa Barbara, where I received excellent treatment. More

My experience with Ventura Toyota in one word was horrible! The lack of work ethic plus unexperienced customer service was not only time consuming but a complete disgrace on their end. From being stero-typed by age the moment we walked in, to leading us on, and dragging out pricless time! I would never recommend this place to anyone, wanted to give them business and purchase a car but left cheated and taken advantage of. All of their associates were un-professional and egging on one another to say inappropriate comments while we were in the process of exchanging a money issue, that they would not give back, when we had no other business being there! In a million years I never imagined we could be treated like this, when all i wanted was to give them business and purchase a vehicle. This is why I chose to return to VENTURA TOYOTA, by far the BEST service in Southern California. The sales department was NEVER PUSHY and my negotiations were far easier than I expected. There service department has always had my families best interests in mind and NEVER tried to push us into purchasing additional services. Can't say enough POSITIVE things about this dealer, I only know I will be referring them to all of my friends and family for their future purchases of Toyotas. More

The dealership service's department has been pretty good at honoring the prices I got from other dealerships. However, dumbfounded when I saw that my car's license plate frame was changed with the new at honoring the prices I got from other dealerships. However, dumbfounded when I saw that my car's license plate frame was changed with the new frame from Ventura's Toyota "Venturatoyota.com 101 Freeway" without my knowledge!!! Front and back plate frames were changed. I can see that since I drive around so much within the state of California, it would be important for them to get the free advertisement out of my car. BUT TO COMMIT THIS ACT W/o MY KNOWLEDGE IS INCONCEIVABLE. This makes me wonder what else they did on my car w/o my knowledge. Gilbert told me that this is a routine practice. They do this to all cars that come into service except those that have customized frames. Here now, it's not like they're giving you a free oil change or any of the transmission, power steering, radiator...flushes w/o your knowledge. That might have been ok. But it's totally ridiculous to tamper with one's car w/o their knowledge. So, check your license plate after the work is completed at Ventura Toyota. More
Rude sales person and manager. Salesman was nice at first but once the rude manager got involved the salesman sided with the manager and became worthless to us. Music was playing on outside soundsystem and was WAY, WAY too loud. We couldn't even talk without yelling into each other's ear. Waste of time shopping here. Thousand Oaks Toyota was 1,000 times better in every respect--we actually felt like customers there. More
I purchased my 2007 Solara from Ventura Toyota in March 07 and have taken my vehicle back for some issues and service in 8/07 and 9/07 that were completed as requested. May 08, I took my car in for the 10 07 and have taken my vehicle back for some issues and service in 8/07 and 9/07 that were completed as requested. May 08, I took my car in for the 10,000 routine maintence,left it at 8:30am and was told it would be ready by 2:30pm, but was called @ 1030am to tell me my car was done. I picked my care up that afternoon and paid $92.66 and received my receipt that stated what they had checked and said they had done. We actually had a message on our home phone from the General manage's assistant asking us to give them a call about our experience in the service dept on the prior day. When the following happened, I called and left a message for the GM responding to HIS call and to date have not received a response from him. The day after my Ventura Toyota service maintence it rained and I turned my wipers on and I could not even see out of my windshield; there was so much missed water removed, obviously because the wipers were bad. Looked at my receipt that said Ventura Toyota service dept had checked them and said they were good. I called the service rep Chris, that took my car in, left him a message that same day..on Friday regarding the wipers...did not hear from him. Called back to speak to someone the following Tues, because now my low air light for my tires had come on over the weekend, looked at my receipt which said all the tires had been checked/rotated and showed 32lbs of air. My husband checked them after the light came on and 1 tire had 28 lbs the other 3 had 26 lbs! When I called service on Tues, Chris happened to answer the phone and I identified myself and told him I had left him a message on Friday, and his response was "Oh...did I call you back?" I proceeded to tell him about the wipers and then about the low air light coming on and what we found when we checked the air in the tires..and told him I was concerned if ANY of the services I had paid for had been completed...his response was bring your car back in and we will look at it again.. I live in Camarillo which is a 15 min/13mile drive- one way! I took time off from work the prior week and drove there using $4.05 a gallon gasoline and now you want me to do that again,because you didn't do what you were suppose to do the first time???? When you buy your vehicle from a dealership and return for service...is it too much to ask that the service you pay for is completed? He said he would do the whole 10,000 maintence again for free and replace the windshield wipers and come get my car...(still on my gasoline dollars)...but had to check with his manager first and would call me back in an hour...this was at 2pm...at 5:15pm he finally called back and left a message saying he wanted to pick it up tomorrow and fix the wipers and the air in the tires...what happened to the total redo on the maintence?... This is my first Toyota purchase and I love the car and will definitely buy another in the future ...BUT NOT FROM VENTURA TOYOTA!! THERE SERVICE DEPT DOES NOT DO WHAT YOU PAY THEM TO DO! I can buy a Toyota at any number of Toyota dealerships in Ventura County...in these days of tight economy and high gas prices...you would think a dealership like this would want to maintain their customer loyalty....not the case with this dealership...we will not darken their doors again!
