On 3/1/24 I had an oil change at Honda in Venice, FL. Melissa Kinlaw was the Service Advisor who took care of me. She was excellent at explaining everything to me. I took my Odyssey in for an oil change and to find out why the check engine light came on. My service advisor Maggie started off just fine. After a while she came to let me know her technician said I woul why the check engine light came on. My service advisor Maggie started off just fine. After a while she came to let me know her technician said I would need new tires soon and quoted me a price. When I asked her what tires, she was quoting me on all she could tell me was that they were Bridgestone. When I asked her which specific model of Bridgestone tires, they were she didn't know. She said she could get that for me. I told her she could email that information to me since I wasn't going to get tires that day. I confirmed she had my email address, and she did. Also, email was the best way to communicate with her since she was always running around and not always able to pick up calls. Once my van was ready the tech pulled it into the drive. After waiting about 20 minutes after it was parked, I went up to Maggie to see if my paperwork was ready. She said she was just about to get it taken care of. I went back to the waiting room and waited another 15 minutes for her to bring it to the cashier cage. I waited a few days for Maggie's email and when I hadn't received anything I tried to call her. She did not pick up and her voice mail was full. In the meantime, I received an email from Kim Benson - customer support for Venice Honda regarding service follow-up. She wanted to ensure my service was excellent and wanted me to give them an excellent review because the American Honda Review was the only one that was important to them. After a couple of days, I had not heard from Kim, so I sent a second notice email to her and copied Venice Honda's General Manager Mr. Phillips. It didn't take long for Kim to leave me a voice mail saying she would get with Maggie and get back to me. Maggie tried to call me verses emailing me like we agreed on and said she would call me back within the next hour or two. Well, she never did so I tried to call her without any luck. Even Kim did not follow-up with Maggie to ensure she gave me the information on the tires and why the tech didn't put down why the check engine light was on. For the past 4 years I have always received excellent service from Venice Honda but for some reason they have had several changes in their service department which has impacted on their once excellent service. Therefore, I will take my service and future vehicle purchases elsewhere. It's a sad day to see this happen to a once great dealership. In my opinion I don't think this could be an isolated incident.
