Buyer Beware! I was contacted by Varsity offering me what appeared to be an excellent deal on a new lease, however I was working with another dealer. I drove to I was contacted by Varsity offering me what appeared to be an excellent deal on a new lease, however I was working with another dealer. I drove to Ann Arbor to look at and reserve the vehicle. I was told there was nothing to sign, and that the vehicle would be ready for pickup in 2 days (last day of the month). We shook hands on the deal and I went home and told my wife, we were both very happy with the great deal on a fully loaded vehicle. We filled out the online credit app and expected a confirmation the following morning. Morning turned into afternoon with no word from Varsity, we both have credit scores of around 800. Finally, after 1:00 pm I received a text saying there was a mistake that they couldn't figure out, but my payment was actually going to be $152 per month more than we had agreed on. There were some apologies, but they wouldn't budge, that's an increase of +37% per month. I was very upset. I told them I would not agree to their new price because we had an agreement. But nothing, crickets, not even a reply. If this was a legitimate mistake I would expect some kind of concession. If it had been a $10, or $20 per month difference because they forgot to add a fee or entered a rebate amount wrong I could've accepted that and gone through with the deal. But asking for an additional +37% every month? No way! Is that how most companies treat customers? No. More
