Lied about airbag recall 3/5/17- BEWARE of VW!!! 3/5/17- BEWARE of VW!!! We bought a VW CC in FL, it was in FL since delivery new in 2011. When we bought the extended warranty for $3k the local deal 3/5/17- BEWARE of VW!!! We bought a VW CC in FL, it was in FL since delivery new in 2011. When we bought the extended warranty for $3k the local dealer said nothing about the airbag recall; and, we did not think we were affected since the car was made in Germany. The car was brought to CA where it was serviced approx 2/15/17-- again, the VW Van Nuys did not say anything about the airbags. We only found out from a Volvo dealer on 3/5/17 that our car was no longer worth what we should have gotten because the airbags were not fixed. I called VW Van Nuys spoke to Sven, Sales Mgr, he stated "the Federal government hasn't released the parts to Volkswagen." Sven also said he could take our car on trade because even though he couldn't sell it on his lot, he would sell it at auction or a smaller used car dealer -- so you're not fixing it just making this someone else's problem? THIS CAR SPENT THE 1st 6YEARS near the ocean in Florida. I called NHTSA, they stated they do NOT control the parts. When speaking to VW Van Nuys GM, Billy, he said he spoke with his area(?)rep who says it's NHTSA holding up the parts. We conferenced NHTSA AGAIN NHTSA SAID THEY DO NOT CONTROL THE REPLACEMENT PARTS. We asked VW North America to reimburse us 1/2 of the extended warranty as we are getting rid of the car at a huge loss and their dealers were not being honest. Shayna at corporate VW said 'in the future there may be a program'-- so here in the present, I feel people should know what to expect if they buy a new or used VW. UPDATE: GM Billy from VW Van Nuys called me back; he didn't want to take responsibility for telling me that NHTSA didn't give VW the parts;he asked What did VW Van Nuys do wrong? I said, "YOU (AND SVEN)LIED TO ME!" His response was,"(inaudible) YOU NEED HELP!" Is that really the car company you want to give thousands of dollars to? Not me-- never again. IF YOU ARE THING ABOUT BUY VW, REQUIRE PROOF THAT THE RECALL IS FIXED OR YOU TOO COULD BE STUCK WITH A CAR THAT IS DEVALUED!! Good Luck to current owners. More

WhenI arrived, it was waiting in the showroom looking great and I was able to take it for a drive and negotiated a price with my trade in that seemed fair. Except for the time spent at dealership to complete sale of about 4 hours, which seemed excessive, I was very pleased with my experience. More
