I had bought a new 2012 Jeep Wrangler Van Horn Dodge and would like to tell the truth on the bad experience I had with them! On January 2 2012 I made a two hour drive to buy a 2012 Jeep wrangler from Van Horn after talking with Josh Devriend on the phone on the Jeep I was looking at that they had listed online. When I arrived down there I had took a quick look at the jeep and it seemed to be the one I was looking for, at this time I sat down with Josh to work on the deal, the first thing I did was give him a description sheet with all the options of the jeep that i was looking at from another dealer and went through it with him to make sure every thing was on the jeep they had and he said yes, going back a little bit, I talked with Josh on the phone the day before and asking him if I drive that far down, would they be interested in taking my 2002 Buick Lasabre in for a trade knowing what the price I would be paying for the jeep and he asked me what I had to get for it and I told him nothing under $3500 knowing they were selling from 4500 to 7000 for the same car and told him the few things that should be updated on it, being honest with him, he then said I am sure we can give you what you want for it and I think I can even do better then that, I said ok then I will make that trip but told him not to play any games when I make that long drive and to have you tell me you will give me a lot less, well guess what, they insulted me by saying they would give me a $1000 for it, at this time I was going to just walk out and as I was getting ready, they came back and said they would give me $3000 for it and I agreed to it because I had made that long trip and did not want to deal with driving all the way home and have someone drive back to pick up the new jeep. I know Josh was just the middleman and he could only do so much on this sale, so when it came down to doing the paper work, I had sat down with who I think is the sales manager, Rodney Steffen, while making the deal I said here is what I have to spend and we did work out a deal but I had to question him on the MI. taxes I would pay because in MI. we pay the full value of the car and do not take the trade in off the price and Rondney said he has been selling cars for a long time and told me to trust him on that, I then said to Josh if that's wrong will you take care of it and he said yes, all I need to do is send him a copy of what I paid for the taxes and if it is more, we will pay it. At this time we seemed to work everything out and I was on my way home with my new jeep thinking everything was ok but when I got home a few days later I was looking on how somethings worked that were on my list of things that they said was on it, they were not there and the part of the top of the jeep was repainted, well just to make a long story short, after calling them back on all this stuff, that Rodney told me that they would send me some papers to sign before they would send me the money for the taxes and how he said it on the phone was once we get the papers back after you sign it, WE WILL BE DONE WITH YOU, I could not believe how rude he was and asking him about the top that was repainted, he told me to bring it to my local dealer and have them fix it, but I wanted to know what had happen to it, he said he did not know and said that they got it from a different dealer but not sure what one and seemed not to care, so know I have been calling a lot of dealers to try on finding out why this was repainted and have not had any luck yet but sure been hearing a lot of other dealers telling me they will not deal with Van Horn. All in all I never been treated like I have from them this dealer and if they do not delete this note, maybe I can help someone out on doing their homework on ever buying from them. Its funny how I spent over 33,000 with them and they could not give me the 180.00 back they said they would. Will never deal with them again. i will have my feelings of van horn painted on the wheel cover of my jeep. P.S never did get that letter they wanted me to sign off on when I told them that I would have my attorney look at it. More
I was discouraged in finding a replacement Jeep. After searching the area and nothing new coming up we saw a commercial for Van Horn in Plymouth, WI. We were well taken care of from the moment we walked in the door. The showroom was busy as they were having a sale going on but Troy didn't keep us waiting and we took out the Jeep I called in on. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but Troy was a GREAT listener. I wanted a Jeep like my first Cherokee (retired after 296,000 miles), and some of the features of its replacement - a Grand Cherokee Limited (totaled in an accident after only owning for 4 mo). He said he would be right back and drove another Jeep up -it had all I wanted and more and in my price range and low mileage. I really did not think I was going to be finding a Jeep that day let alone buying one! Everyone there helped make it happen. Troy found it, Evert got the financing put together and found us a great rate. There was no reason not to sign the papers. I drove away a very happy customer and would definitely recommend the people at Van Horn in Plymouth for anyone needing a new or used vehicle. My experience with this dealer was very smooth. I came in knowing what car I wanted to look so it wasn't too big of a process. Brock was very helpful and honest about the car we were looking at. He answered all of our questions without hesitation. Katrina the customer service representative was also ver nice. The price on the car I bought had just been reduced that day, but my only problem was they wouldn't even throw in the navigation disc (cost $100 or $150) with it. I felt since I was buying a car there the least they could have done was include that for me. I can't even program the time on my car without that disc so it is a necessary piece of equipment. Went to trade in a vehicle during the sales event. I had come prepared to negotiate with not only blue book values but also comparable comps in the area. When we arrived on the date of service, Marc took the time to talk through everything with me to make sure I understood. Additionally, since I had my daughter and husband with me, we waited for the service. The new waiting room is WONDERFUL! Very comfortable, and Molly loved the popcorn. Marc kept us posted on the progress, and when they diagnosed the park assist warning and found that a sensor had gone bad, he even went through and found out that I had warranty which reduced the part cost. He explained that they had to order the part, and they got us on our way with the rest of the services done. We got the call on Monday that the part was in, and scheduled for Thursday. Marc met me at the service desk, and I waited while they installed the sensor, and finished balancing wheels. Very quick considering the work to be done. Marc explained the whole invoice, including the warranty part for the sensor, and I was on my way. As always, excellent service and follow-up. Thank you! More
