$11,300 Spent On Service - Not Their Job to Check History I inherited a 1998 Venture with 72,000 miles in 2009. I put on 100,000 miles over the next 4 years. Unfortunate repairs - some routine, some unexpec I inherited a 1998 Venture with 72,000 miles in 2009. I put on 100,000 miles over the next 4 years. Unfortunate repairs - some routine, some unexpected - amounted to $11,300 during that time. I thought each repair would coax it along for another couple years, but I couldn't go 9 months without a major repair bill. All work was performed at this dealer. Today I received an estimate for another $1,500 (fuel line, stabilizer, ball joint). It was time to junk it. They charged me $65 for the estimate. They told of this fee up front. I was a bit put off by having to replace the "rest" of the fuel line after replacing the "other" fuel line 15,000 miles ago. I also asked why they would have charged for the wheel bearing that was replaced by Van Horn with a lifetime warranty. At this point, the service person (Daniel) became combative in tone saying it was not their responsibility to know the history of the vehicle. After $11,300 of repairs on this vehicle, I was shocked by this attitude. I was trying to provide honest feedback. I was not expecting an argument. They reduced the estimate fee to $50. Clearly, some goodwill was in order here. It is the dealership's responsibility to know the history and try to understand the customer's perspective. The vehicle is destined for scrap - they could have waived the estimate fee entirely. Unfortunately, my final impression with this dealership will be a negative one. More
