Did not have to wait a long time. My wait time wasn't too long. Other than that, the repairs that my car needs will be done by Toyota. I would recommend Toyota. What to do when a service writer lies to you? Urban dictionary: Stealership. Business entity where one can purchase vehicles or have vehicle maintenance and repairs performed at exorbitant prices Urban dictionary: Stealership. Business entity where one can purchase vehicles or have vehicle maintenance and repairs performed at exorbitant prices. Remember to bend over and bring lots of lube. Valdosta Toyota is no different. When waiting for your regular interval oil change, the service writer approaches you with a nasty-dirty cabin air filter asking "how is your family doing, I bet your kids are enjoying their new Toyota mini-van". He holds out the dirty cabin air filter and then says "during our regular inspection, we found that your cabin air filter should immediately be changed for the health of your family." WOW! In your mind you remember changing that just 2 weeks ago when you washed it in the drive way and it needs changing already? The original filter lasted almost a year! You don't want to be too aggressive, but you have to ask "how long do those things last?" He says "that varies, most people have US change them at every oil change. It is a great $75.00 investment, and we like to think about the health of our family of loyal Toyota owners." You say "well, let me think on it and call the wife." (The wife has no clue that there is a cabin air filter, but she is an expert at putting fuel in the van, and where the ignition key goes and making sure the kids are strapped in well before she pulls out of the driveway on the way to soccer practice, ball games, school or a birthday party several counties over.) While you sit and steam over this "stealership" upcharge tactic, you see one of the mechanics walking through and you stop him and ask "how long does it take to change a cabin air filter in a mini-van?" He says "at the most 5 minutes, even if the glove box is full of customer stuff, but we get paid for .4 hours". You thank him and shake hands. You see your 2016 Toyota Sienna pull up indicating that it is ready, then you hear your name called over the speaker. You go to the service writer's desk. He asks, "have you reconsidered your cabin air filter replacement?" You answer, as a matter of fact I did, lets walk out to my van." You open the passenger door, open the glove box, flip the small cabin air filter access door, use your finger to grasp the cabin air filter and SHOW HIM WHERE YOU WROTE THE DATE, MILEAGE O'Rileys $19.99 on the side of the Bosch - HEPA Premium Cabin Air Filter (Part No. 6056C) air filter from just 2 weeks ago!!! The service writer then begins to dance, like a little boy that needs to go to the restroom! The line of excuses ranged from "the mechanic said" to "I must have mistaken your vehicle for another just like it" to "wow, I am going to have to talk to the guys in the back about this!" Never an apology! And to think that within 4 days of that event, the service writer called our home and said "you will be getting a review either in the mail or online. Please give me a favorable review". That's rich!!!! When it comes to dealing with the service department at Valdosta Toyota, remember "Caveat lector" is Latin for "let the reader beware". Educate yourself! Know what is included but always ASK to be taken back to the service bay to actually SEE anything they want to repair or replace that is over $50.00. In the meantime, I will be taking our Toyota Sienna to Langdale Ford, who also works on Toyotas or to Ray Norton on Bemiss. I just hate to be lied to! More
