Friendly sales team Vaden Nissan of Hilton Head provided a pleasant car buying experience. Only two “negatives” with this dealership. First, the vehicle we wanted was no Vaden Nissan of Hilton Head provided a pleasant car buying experience. Only two “negatives” with this dealership. First, the vehicle we wanted was no longer in stock, despite the fact that it was listed online as available inventory on the lot AND we called not even 2 hours prior to our visit to confirm that this specific vehicle was indeed available. We were told yes, that specific vehicle was still on the lot and up for sale. So we were disappointed to discover that we were given incorrect information both online and on the phone. Second, we were paying cash, which we expected would make the back and forth sales haggling somewhat less stressful and more pleasant because we wouldn’t require financing and the dealership would make the sale, paid in full. There’s some “rebates” and “discounts” that come from corporate and are non-negotiable; I know that. But we ended up being financially penalized for paying cash rather than using their financing to complete the sale. We were told we would receive a bigger rebate/better overall deal if we gave a down payment and then paid the remaining balance off after 90 days (utilizing their in-house financing of course). If we did that, there’d be no interest after 91 days and there’d be no penalty for paying the remaining balance in full “early”, before the terms of the loan ended. This didn’t sit well with us. Maybe that’s the way all cash sales work; dealerships would rather earn more by making you finance in house. But I was rather disappointed that we ended up getting penalized for paying cash. Other than those two situation-specific issues, the dealership was fine overall. Buying a car is never 100% amazing and pleasant because of the inherent back and forth haggling involved, however the people we worked with at Vaden made the experience much more bearable than previous vehicle purchases. Ask for Melissa Serrano, she was super friendly and knowledgeable. We highly recommend working with Melissa and would definitely choose to work with her again in the future! More
