Upon getting a better price from a competitor where I had given VW of Hartford a copy of both the purchase order and lease screen so as to be accurate and honest, this dealership would not match the deal with the Sales manager getting upset where he responded to me " I am not going to match that price and I am crediting your deposit as we speak". That was over 2 weeks ago. I called the bank and participated in a 3 way conference call where the sales Manager said he forget to refund my deposit because it was "the end of the month". I sent over an email to the salesman John Cintron asking AGAIN for my refund and threatening to write a letter to the owner Fred Valenti but had gone unanswered. I also asked for the General manager to call me and again, no response. It bears to mention that on their purchase order it reads "Refundable Security Deposit" This dealership is a throwback to the fast talking-snake oil type dealerships of the past. I would HIGHLY recommend that you stay away. FYI - The competitor dealership not only was a better price but they delivered the car directly to my house. That's great customer service. More
Jason was amazing at helping us get a great deal on our new Sportwagen. Test drove 6 cars, they answered tons of questions and there was No pressure during our visit. All of the staff from the manager to t new Sportwagen. Test drove 6 cars, they answered tons of questions and there was No pressure during our visit. All of the staff from the manager to the salesman were top notch and accommodating to our needs. In the end, after checking Consumer Reports, we paid almost 2,000 less than the average person for our Wagon. Nothing like a great deal and personable service! Thanks VW of Hartford More

I recently purchased a used 2013 GTI from VW of hartford. Right from the start I was very impressed with the dealership, from the salesmen that I dealt with Rich through to the finance manager. As a foreigne Right from the start I was very impressed with the dealership, from the salesmen that I dealt with Rich through to the finance manager. As a foreigner who had recently moved to the US I was expecting a lot of difficulties in purchasing a car with no credit or history in the US, based on what I had read and heard from other people. However, they were able to sort everything out for me with minimal fuss and in very little time. Rich kept me up date well throughout the entire process and I ended up getting a deal better than I had ever hoped for in terms of financing. I would highly recommend this dealership. More
I belong to Vw tdi enthusiest sites and when my car starting making a certain noise and researched it and found out it was most definitly a daul mass flywheel failure which is very common in Vw cars.I starting making a certain noise and researched it and found out it was most definitly a daul mass flywheel failure which is very common in Vw cars.I also had a friend who specializes in Vw and Audis look and listen to it and he agreed without a dought the daul mass flywheel was bad. I brought it in to vw of hartford and told them it needed a daul mass flywheel and I had a extended warrenty. They had the car for 3 days and I was thinking the work was being done. Then they called me saying the boost pipe was off and that was the only problem. After arguing with the service superviser and paying $110.00 diagnostic fee I picked up the car.I then took the car to Ammco transmissions in east Hartford Ct. Who found the car did need the daul mass flywheel and the transmission was leaking. AAMCO and the warranty company adjuster were amazed that Vw of Hartford could not find the daul mass flywheel problem They fixed the car and accepted my warranty.I don't think vw of Hartford really looked at my car or listened to me or the horrible rapping sound the car made or they would have found the problem daul mass flywheel that I actually told them it needed and then if they looked why didn't they see the transmission leak.I spread the word of there crappy service on several vw tdi enthusiest sites that I am a active member on. I think Vw of Hartford should refund the $110.00 diagnostic fee they charged me.A dealer should be able to service what they sell and it seems they have trouble doing that. More
35 thousand miles ago I had my timing belt and water pump replaced. I asked that the thermostat be replaced as well but the service advisor talked me out of it. He said that he has never seen a thermostat fa replaced. I asked that the thermostat be replaced as well but the service advisor talked me out of it. He said that he has never seen a thermostat fail on my Vw model. Well, 35K later and my thermostat failed in the open position and @ 5 hrs labor plus parts, I'm out $700. Not happy! More
I bought the car lightly used from them with 100,000 mile warranty. At about 62000 miles the transmission flywheel started rapping and I had it confirmed by a friend who works with Vw dsg transmissions and h warranty. At about 62000 miles the transmission flywheel started rapping and I had it confirmed by a friend who works with Vw dsg transmissions and he said yes it definitly needs a daul mass flywheel and its very common problem in both standard and automatic VW's. I have it towed to Vw of hartford and tell them it needs a daul mass flywheel and they kept the car for 3 days making me think the car is being fixed. On day 3 they call me saying the turbo boost pipe came off and there is nothing wrong with the flywheel. I pleaded with them even tryed to play a sound clip off my phone of the noise. They said nothing wrong and they would have trouble with the warranty company adjuster getting the work approved.I was charged $110.00 diagnostic fee and I was upset. I drove to AAMCO transmissions in east Hartford and they could not believe Vw of Hartford would not agree the flywheel needed to be replaced neither could the warranty co. adjuster. AAMCO accepted my warranty and fixed the flywheel. I was told the flywheel was so bad it was ready to grenade and shoot through the transmission case. So I waisted 3 days of use of my car and waisted $110.00 diagnostic fee and they couldn't even recognize the very common daul mass flywheel Vw problem in my car.I am very unhappy with service at VW of Hartford. VW beetle would not start with the old key. Had car towed to Hartford Dealership. I was informed that the key was not communicating with sensor in the cluster panel. Dealership replaced the panel for $600.(u to Hartford Dealership. I was informed that the key was not communicating with sensor in the cluster panel. Dealership replaced the panel for $600.(used), plus other expenses, and had the old key reprogrammed. I also purchased another key. Two weeks later car does not start with the old key. Starts with the new key. I called dealership and told them that their diagnosis was wrong and that car did not need the cluster panel. Brought the car to the dealership and they tried to reprogram the old key once more. No luck. Had to purchase a second key and have it programmed. Dealership refused to acknowledge that their diagnosis was wrong in spite of the sequence of events and logic. I also had them do my brakes while the car was there. I will never again do business with this dealership. More

Throughout the preceding weeks the car has had problems overheating (a problem that wasn't present prior to bring it in). I contact the service department and am told that they will take a look at it. And this is where the railroading becomes an issue. Nine hours later we're given an estimate of $950 to repair two coolant fans. When we question why this wasn't noticed on the first visit we're told that they "aren't physic" and had no way of knowing that this would happen. Now on top of being inept, they are being rude. I/we will never take our vehicle to this dealership and are seriously considering getting rid of the car as the dealership is likely a reflection on VW US. I would highly recommend that if you are considering or in need of service that you use an independent mechanic, or at least don't take your business here. More
