horrible sales experience I stopped at University Kia to look at a Kia Soul. I made it very clear up front I was only looking and had no intent to buy. After a test drive I stu I stopped at University Kia to look at a Kia Soul. I made it very clear up front I was only looking and had no intent to buy. After a test drive I stupidly agreed to hear some numbers. From that point on they would not let me leave until I said yes to buying the car. They practically cornered me and pressured me like I was being interrogated. I made it clear I wanted to think about it but they persisted. I had to defend myself for at least 15 minutes while they berated me, trying to get me to buy. I finally managed to squirm my way out after 2 hours at the dealer. I went so far as to write a complaint to the dealership online. The response from Bloomington Ford was offensive. It consisted of 2 sentences which essentially said, "Oh, we're sorry you did not enjoy your experience. Sorry." There was absolutely no effort put forth and no sincerity in their reply. I will NEVER buy a car from University Kia, and I will have a hard time buying from any of the other dealerships in the group - Ford, Chrylser, and certainly not Kia. More
Watch for the bogus fees! I went in for a $15,900 Kia Forte. They came back quoting me $1,726 in additional fees, rounding it up to $17,626. The first $800 was the dest I went in for a $15,900 Kia Forte. They came back quoting me $1,726 in additional fees, rounding it up to $17,626. The first $800 was the destination fee. That is a legitimate fee for getting the car there. Then there was the document fee of $126, I guess to pay for printer ink. That is semi-legitimate and at every dealer. The last $800 was allegedly the preparation and handling fee, or I guess the fee to pay people to change the oil and take the plastic off of the seats, or whatever. In the real world, that would be called operating cost and is just part of doing business. It's the reason why they have a margin between wholesale and retail in the first place. It's a bogus fee designed to get more money from you. Needless to say, that left a bad taste in my mouth about this place. But then again, it's a car dealership, what should I have expected? More
I have now tried twice to purchase a vehicle from this dealer and cannot believe how bad an experience it was. Tried to get a Sportage the first time and we're so unhappy with them we never got very far. dealer and cannot believe how bad an experience it was. Tried to get a Sportage the first time and we're so unhappy with them we never got very far. I went to Honda and purchased a new 2013 CR-V that same weekend, so I was obviously ready to buy! Today was truly amazing though. Went ready to lease a new Kia Soul and could not even come close to making a deal. Very high pressure and generally insulting throughout. Went with 4,000 cash to put down, plus a trade for another 1,000 or less, nothing huge. The first lease price that they quoted was 280 a month! The sales manager laughed and said, "hey, you can't blame me for trying!" Actually I can, I'm hear right now to buy a car, not to play games. I have cash in hand and a 18,000 Soul should not be that high to lease with nothing down, let alone over 4k! Next price was 180 a month, said we were hoping for closer to 140 then suddenly he could do that. Would never give a straight price for the car, added 800 dollars in prep fees I noticed though. The last price was a "one time only, now or gone price" so we said we were leaving. We were serious buyers, we went in fully planning to purchase and left ticked. Good job Kia. This is now 45000 in new cars sales between the two that they lost. I was there driving my six week old Honda and that is where we went back to. Have a Honda Civic on hold now and are finishing the paperwork on Monday. Liked the Soul a ton, we really wanted one but it is not worth dealing with them. I thought about going elsewhere but then I'd have to get it serviced there and my wife said no way. Beware, we gave them more that one chance and it was a mistake. A one star review is truly all that this entire experience was, bad all around sadly. More
