On Monday morning, I spoke (from Vermont, where we live) with Jay Rau in the service department. He outlined the possible diagnoses, indicating the likelihood of major repairs. As the diagnostic procedure progressed, he kept me closely informed. When the problem was identified, he explained the range of costs (all of which were significant) and the amount of time repairs might take. When the repair work began, again he gave me progress reports until completion, at which time I paid for the work. Jay Rau kept the car on the lot, and checked the condition of the battery from time to time. Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, my daughter was unable to get to Tucson to get the car until only today, 22 May. She now is driving the car back to Colorado. I cannot emphasize enough how competently Jay Rau dealt with me. Throughout the process he made sure I was aware of what was going on, and he was always friendly and courteous to me. I needed an emergency alignment fast and they made time for me and made sure my outback was back on the road in a reasonable amount of time. Because of social distancing precautions, I wasn't able to have an in-person tutorial when I took ownership of my new car, and Steve took a full hour with me over Skype to answer all my questions and go over some of the technology I wasn't familiar with.
