In particular, many salespeople I've worked with when shopping for cars with my mom were used to presenting vehicles and features different than what is important to my salt-of-the-earth, working-class mom. We ended up working with Tom Robinson, an incredibly patient, warm guy who somehow was able to engage a lot of my mom's frank opinions with grace, and was able to ask the sort of detailed probing questions to get closer to what my mom was looking for. His explanations were detailed and helpful without being bogged down with technical details my mom didn't care about-- he knew exactly who his audience was and how to make them feel comfortable. It's been rare for me to walk into "big ticket" sales environments and feel like I was not trying to be pressured or upsold. I think Troy Honda must have some good management to ensure a friendly, professional vibe where customers feel understood and appreciated. It's hard to articulate exactly how good this experience was because it felt like the way a sales experience should, and it's rare enough to have that sort of experience these days where I have to write a review for every business that does.
