Puzzled When I bought my 2007 Rav4, I wanted one with a moonroof. Rather than search for one, Toyota of Tampa Bay (TTB) sold me on the idea of their having When I bought my 2007 Rav4, I wanted one with a moonroof. Rather than search for one, Toyota of Tampa Bay (TTB) sold me on the idea of their having one installed by an "after market supplier' they worked with. I was leery, but was convinced there was no reason for concern. I had problems from the start, and returned the car to Toyota for repairs. In June of 2008, because of the frequency of repairs and my complaints, TTB gave me signed paperwork saying they would cover any repair costs after the factory 5 year warranty expired. Well, recently my concerns were substantiated. About a month or so ago the headliner and the shell to which it was glued started coming down. In talking to 2 companies that do these repairs I was told this always happens with "after market" roofs. When they install one, they cut away part of the shell and thereby reduce the integrity of the whole system. I called TTB on or about 11/29 and talked to a Service Manager named Delbert. I had initially misplaced the above mentioned paperwork, but I had a 2008 email to TTB referencing the guaranty, the date and the person who signed it. He said there is no such thing as a "forever" warranty. End of discussion. He did not ask for what I had so kept on looking.. On December 3rd I found the original paperwork. I called and left a message with his secretary to call me as I had found the paperwork. No response. This is frustrating in that I have only 77K miles on the car and have meticulously maintained it for these 12 years. As indicated, I am puzzled at the lack of response to a black and white issue. I have the dealership's guaranty in writing and they seem to be simply walking away. I doubt this is the image Toyota wants to display. . More
