Took my car in for routine oil change, tire rotation, inspection. Was told car would not pass inspection because of tires. (I only have 39,000 miles) I take my car in every 3 months for oil change and inspection. Was told car would not pass inspection because of tires. (I only have 39,000 miles) I take my car in every 3 months for oil change and rotation. I did not agree with Mickey (service advisor). I picked my car up and took in to a random Kwik Lube in Plano where it passed immediately. I asked the mechanic to show me what Toyota was talking about and he said I had plenty of tread. I returned to Toyota of Richardson where I spoke to the Service Manager James Holloman. I asked him to look at my tires and he agreed I did not need new tires. He called the lie they had told me a "MISTAKE." So, the 4 new tires they wanted to sell me and the bold face lie was a "MISTAKE." WOW....Ladies, re-think your visit to this dealership for repairs. We need to trust what we are being told and if they will lie about tires, what is next? Expensive work that is what is next. Get a second opinion and be educated as much as possible about your car. NEVER purchase an auto from here. In sum, I purchased NEVER purchase an auto from here. In sum, I purchased an Avalon and with less than 7,000 miles the engine was full of sludge. Toyota of Richardson NEVER purchase an auto from here. In sum, I purchased an Avalon and with less than 7,000 miles the engine was full of sludge. Toyota of Richardson would not honor it under warranty, claimed I did not change the oil. I'm not an idiot and did change the oil and produced proof of such. They said "I don't care if you did or not, that is not our problem." When I pursued the matter, the owner told me to go away in a not so nice manner. A few weeks later in the USA Today there was a big article about Toyota admitting it had a sludge problem, yet the owner was still acting like the loser he is and would not apologize nor repair my auto. At this time I would not trust them to do so. Toyota USA had me take it to another shop and Toyota paid for the repair. Toyota is fine, this dealership is owned by an unethical individual. -Charles More
Car stalled on the freeway, turns out it was just a loose air flow sensor (screws somehow disappeared). Rather than just putting in a couple of new screws and charging me $25 (or some other nominal amount), air flow sensor (screws somehow disappeared). Rather than just putting in a couple of new screws and charging me $25 (or some other nominal amount), they called me and told me I should take it to the dealership that installed the cold air intake I had (who apparently did so without including all the necessary screws). I drove the car home, and when I opened the hood to put in a couple of screws myself, found the sensor taped to the xxxxx air intake -- electrical tape wound around and around. I understand they can't work for free, but how hard would it have been just to replace a couple of screws? More
My wife took her Prius here for a 15,000 mile maintenance. We asked for the 15,000 mile maintenance assuming it would be what is outlined in the maintenance manual: oil change, rotate tires, ins maintenance. We asked for the 15,000 mile maintenance assuming it would be what is outlined in the maintenance manual: oil change, rotate tires, inspect joints and bearings. I was told this was $400 which floored me, but I assumed I had no choice if I wanted to keep the warranty. When we go to pick the car up, in addition to what the manual recommends, they had also sold us: cabin air filter, fuel injection flush (???), oil conditioner, and a new set of wiper blades. I asked for none of this stuff. Now I know when I take it in that "15000 mile maintenance" is not a term I should use- I need to specify exactly what I want. But, I will not be doing business with this dealership again. My sales experience was equally bad - in short, we made a deal on a car they were to get on dealer trade - when I go to make the purchase, the price is different than what we agreed on - they added for window tinting and underbody protection, etc... ended up making a deal with them anyways because we liked the car and the tax rebate was about to expire. I suggest staying away from this dealership. More
We bought our Highlander from this dealer and were very pleased with the sales end of the transaction. However, ever time we've had to deal with the service department it's been a nightmare. They have tr pleased with the sales end of the transaction. However, ever time we've had to deal with the service department it's been a nightmare. They have tried to make us pay for fixes that were clearly covered under the warranty and we had to fight to make them do the work. Once, when Toyota called us to rate our customer service experience, we told them how annoyed we were. The answer? Five days later we got a message from the service manager on our answering machine YELLING at us for leaving a bad rating. Sadly, even though we liked the salesman who sold us our car, we will probably not go back to this dealership again. More
This is a followup on an earlier review. In my earlier review, I told how I was charged for services I did not want while I was in for a separate problem. The reason for this follow-up is it turns out th review, I told how I was charged for services I did not want while I was in for a separate problem. The reason for this follow-up is it turns out they did not fix the problem. When I had my 4Runner in, they said it was a bad fuel pump. It turns out that the real problem was a bad fuel gauge, which is a know issue with my model 4Runner. The bad fuel gauge says you still have gas even though you are on empty. So, I was just out of gas and they replaced the fuel pump. They did not fix the real problem. By the time It happened again (I usually fill up at half a tank, so I didn't find out for a while) my extended warranty ran out. Now, because they didn't fix the problem correctly the first time, I just have to live with the bad fuel gauge. Do not take your toyota to Toyota of Richardson. They will rip you off, and not fix your car. More
These guys are a bunch of rip off artists. A squirrel got in my engine compartment and chewed through some wires which made my antenna, alarm beeper and high speed on my wipers stop working. The service got in my engine compartment and chewed through some wires which made my antenna, alarm beeper and high speed on my wipers stop working. The service guys told me that all kinds of wires needed to be spliced back together, it would be 5 hours of work and would be anywhere from $300 to $500 to fix. I told them I could not afford that, Paid a diagnostic fee, and just took it home. I looked at it myself, and it turned out to be 3 wires that just needed to be spliced back together. I had everything fixed by myself in $20 min. I should have known better, but my fuel pump went out a couple of months later. I had it towed in and the fuel pump was replaced under an extended warranty. The service man told me that they also replaced the battery, plugs, wires, and did a fuel injection service, (None of which I asked for), and these things would be $350. I told him that my battery was working fine when it went in, and the other things had been done just 3000 miles ago at another service center. He said that the battery was totally shot and they had to put a new one in just to test it. After A bit of back and forth, they agreed to put the old battery back in, and not charge me for the other items. When I went to pick the car up, they wanted to charge me a fee because I didn't have the other work done (The work I didn't ask them to do). Again, some back and forth before I got them to take that off too. As a side note, my 4runner starts rite up every time on that same battery that the service guy told me was "Shot". More
Charged for services admittedly not performed, rushed out before we could do anything about it. When we went back to dispute the charge, the customer service rep. woman treated us horribly and attempted to before we could do anything about it. When we went back to dispute the charge, the customer service rep. woman treated us horribly and attempted to strong-arm us out of seeking resolution. A week later, after calling Toyota's 800 number and then having the customer service rep. call to intimidate us into withdrawing that complaint, they finally decided to refund me.

I will do all I can to persuade others to go to another dealer.

Worst customer service, ever. They don't care about their customers, nor do they care about retaining any of their business. They have defrauded many people that I know of, and I cannot recommend this dealership to anyone. More
